Just browsing for flights next year on Qatar Airways website. When selecting a flight from MAN to MNL it displays the flights as CRK/MNL. I understand that some middle eastern airlines now fly to Clark but what does that mean to me when selecting flights? Is it going to CRK or MNL or both? I specifically selected MNL so I am guessing that's where the flight will go, maybe they're just highlighting the fact that flights are available to CRK too, should one wish?
Emirates are starting a Dubai to Clark service on October 1st, which explains why Dave is seeing this information. Qatar are starting a Doha to Clark service at the end of October. But to be honest, for most of us flying to the provinces, flying into Clark is a waste of time as there's no connections to other Philippines domestic airports. Example, a search on Cebu Pac shows no internal flights to Tacloban.
Ah, that would explain it, then! Thanks, Rob. I agree with you regarding Clark and its lack of domestic services. Last time I checked, there was only one daily flight between Cebu and Clark and between Davao and Clark. Clark is fine if you want to go to Angeles or northern Luzon but you've still got a four hour bus trip into Manila (Pasay). But no doubt the Fields Avenue bar owners are rubbing their hands in anticipation of the influx of visitors these ME airlines will bring.
Qatar arrives in CRK at 09:30 in the morning. I wonder how Clark will cope with the extra passenger capacity. Last time I used the airport (earlier this year): The arrivals was still a mess, the transport seemingly controlled by local mafia. Fortunately I had a car pre-arranged. In the departures everybody was crammed into the old cafeteria section as the nice new cafeteria section seemed a lot more expensive. Just my memories...
I love Clark! An hours to Subic; two or at the most three hours to La Mesa, Quezon City. Don't know what the rest of you are complaining about!

There are now two options when you select an airport on the Qatar website for Manila: Manila (CRK) and Manila (MNL). You must have chosen the first one, which is Clark. I don't think it will be flying onto Manila, as they will still have international routes direct to Manila as well.
I've just checked with BA which doesn't operate a flight to the Philippines itself but only in conjunction with PAL and Cathay. However Manila and Cebu are the only two destinations bookable on its site: Manila -> Hong Kong (PAL) -> London (BA) -> Hong Kong (BA) -> Manila (Cathay) costs a fairly reasonable £742 (inclusive of all taxes etc) but if you want fly between Cebu and London, the fare goes up to a whopping £1,356 despite the fact that the longest sectors are on the very same BA flight. (The fares are for early December with a month's stay).
