This is an absolute mess of a company! Last week, me and Joy applied for a tenancy of a flat here in Manchester and the letting agent we are going with use the service of another company called "Rent4Sure" who gather the credit checks and references. And what a bunch of slackers they are as well! Last Thursday, we applied early in the afternoon and I asked "How long do these checks take?" and was told to wait about 72 hours. I thought this sounded reasonable, as my previous letting agents usually took about 2 days to gather the references and stuff. And so on Monday I got a call from Rent4Sure, advising they were having difficulty getting my employment reference, so I passed them emails of all the phone numbers, fax numbers and email addresses of people and departments who can provide what they want. On Tuesday, I phoned the letting agent I had paid the money to and was told that the credit checks were done, as were the employment checks and all that was left was the landlords reference.. And on Wednesday I got another call from Rent4Sure asking me to chase up my landlords reference with my current letting agents. So I did, and the nice lady there (whom I've spoken with a few times in the past) advised she just got the request for it very recently and was writing it out for me right now - "Don't worry", she said. "I'll make it a good one". Today, I called the letting agent we have applied to and they are still waiting on the landlord reference. So I called Rent4Sure only to be told they too are waiting on it. So I called my current letting agents and they confirmed it had been faxed off to Rent4Sure yesterday afternoon. So then I called Rent4Sure again and the agent was saying crap like "Oh, we've got lots of faxes but we will get through them when we can"... And he kept saying my case handler would deal with it. So I asked where she was, and if I could speak to her? Umm, no. She is off sick, therefore your reference is delayed. Only paid £210 for this service! :f:
Fortunately we haven't had issues like that and paid considerably less then £100 for the privelige. Though we picked a bad landlord this time. Grrrrr. Perhaps charges have gone up to cover immigration checks? ( half joking ).
One gets what one pays for,.... On the other hand, if you were to move to Wrexham, all this hassle would not surface at all...
