Agree with Timmers, those are 3 very good airlines. My daughter flew Oman Air once from London to Dubai. It involved a stop in Muscat. That wasn't a problem on the way out but became a bit of a nightmare on the return leg. It was the year of the Icelandic volcanic ash affecting flights. Cant blame that on Oman Air, but the way they handled the situation was very disappointing. Cut a long story short, I double checked with them before my daughter left Dubai, that the flight was not affected, all allegedly OK. Except it wasn't, she finished up being stranded in Muscat for 5 days. To be fair it was exceptional circumstances and they did arrange accommodation for the passengers, but there was very little communication from the airline rep about what was happening etc etc.
For flights from London to Philippines, I always recommend Emirates with a stop over in Dubai for a short break if you can spare the time.

The Emirates UK to Philippines via Dubai is always a welcomed flight, good to stretch your legs at a decent airport like Dubai, I would avoid using the direct PAL flight from London if at all possible,

I think all the airlines were caught out at the time of the Icelandic volcano fiasco, I was stuck in Madrid for a week which was quite pleasant but struggled getting a return flight home with Easy Jet, little or no information as in your daughters case. I did get reimbursed by Easy Jet for accommodation and food etc. which was a consolation.

Same here due to Eyjafjallajökull. I was supposedly flying to PI with Qatar in April 2010. Had to be aborted of course but all booked successfully a little while later.

The noise actually was on the tarmac of Dubai airport when we got off the plane, at the stop.

    Qatar Airways
    Emirates
    Etihad

Those are just our choices. Flew Qatar many times they are fantastic! I wont mind being stuck in Hamad International Airport. ☺

    Emirates good experienced too.

First time to fly Etihad but they are marketing the on board 'nanny service' I'm flying with my toddler why not try it. Hubby is a regular Etihad flyer he assured me it will be ok.

I've flown Etihad many times. Never any problems. On a par with Emirates IMO, and Abu Dhabi airport is much easier to get around than Dubai, for your flight change.

Everyone knows my views, I've gone on about them enough, I am not keen on an 8 : 8 split although I do like Emirates as an airline.

I prefer 1 : 11 : 2 which is roughly the KLM pattern on the way out , I just like one long leg with a chance to enjoy dinner, plenty of time to sleep and a nice breakfast before landing.

(By 8 : 8 I mean two periods of eight hours in the air)

In reality 8: 8 is actually 8: 3: 8 on a good day in Dubai where the 3 is the hours on the ground, KLM is usually 1 : 4 : 11 : 1 : 2 these are best times and both add up to about 19 hours which is wee bit optimistic as most of my trips are more than that from take off in the UK to landing at NAIA.

I am not a fan of PAL...Terrible food and old planes...And most seriously, they can't produce a decent cup of tea!
But we still use them because the flight times for in well with our schedule.
I was surprised to read that the London route may get the chop, the plane always seemed full whenever I've flown with them.
    Staff are usually courteous too.
