Anyone know the current processing time for the Settlement Priority Visa (P.V.)
Also, how long is the Settlement Visa valid for once received ?

60 days. all priority service does now is--bump your application to the top of the pile. allegedly.

settlement visas are valid for 30 months--then apply for FLR for another 30 months. then ILR. a very expensive 5 years ahead.

so if my wife gets the visa here in the PH it is valid for her to use to come to the UK for 30 months , meaning she can have our baby in the PH and still use the same visa to come to the UK when ever she is ready. I guess the new child will need a seperate visa too ?

If you are applying for a spouse visa she will get a vignette valid for 30 days. She will have 30 days to come to the UK and will have 10 days to get her BRP once she is here. The visa will be valid for 33 months.

And to clarify, she needs to be a normal resident of the UK, which means she needs to spend most of her time in the UK. Short holidays are allowed of course . She can't spend the whole 9 months of pregnancy in the Philippines or she will have a problem when it comes to extending the visa.

    This is my position :
I am applying for my wifes settlement visa
My wife is due November 8th. She is 31 weeks, some airlines allow travel for up to 36 weeks pregnant.
I have paid and made the application to the Visa4uk hoping that if i then purchased the Settlement Priority Visa at VFS Global it would be processed in time for her to travel to and give birth in the UK as she has 5 weeks until she is forbidden to travel.
Now i dont know what to do......
Should i get the Settlement Priority Visa service and hope it arrives within 5 weeks
Should i not get the Settlement Priority Visa service and apply as normal
If she gets the Settlement visa then has the baby here in the Philippines is it still valid and do i have to get another visa for the baby.
Alternatively, should i apply for a passport in the UK for the baby so it can travel on that instead of another settlement visa
So confused ....my appointment at VFS Global is monday 4th september
    any help much appreciated

no! she has to travel within 30 days of the date on the visa. she can request a travel date up to 90 days from the date of application.

others can advise about the need for a visa for your baby.

Okay I won't confuse you with the terms. The vignette is the sticker attached on her passport once the application is approved (technically the visa) but it's called vignette. This vignette (visa) will be valid for 30 days and she has to travel within that time. When she arrives in the UK she has to collect her BRP (that's basically the actual visa that has all her information on how long it's valid, her bday and if she's allowed to work. It's like a bank card). That is called Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).

BRP is the biometric residence permit...which is issued after she gets to the UK

the vignette is the stamp in the passport.

by all means apply for a UK passport for your baby--then the child wont need a settlement visa.

frankly--if i were you i would cancel the application and start fresh after she has had the baby and is fit to travel. i just cant see UKVI processing your present app in your timeframe. also--i do not know how long it will take to get your baby a UK passport.

    That narrows down my choices.....
The priority visa service is just a gimmick
I will never receive the visa within 5 weeks
I should forget about the visa.
My wife should have the baby in the Philippines
I better apply for and hope i get a refund from Visa4uk and the healthcare payment, i just hope they give me a refund andi have not wasted all that money thinking the priority visa service was a fast track service.

when the priority service started--last feb i think--ukvi were giving decisions within 10 days--so money well spent--and several on here got it. but since the whole shebang shifted to sheffield--its gone straight out the window.
