    Indeed!

Well as I have applied under the correct category it looks like I will have to go the the IHS site as I can't pay for the application without navigating this step. I noticed that @joi1991 encountered this step but didn't have to pay - instead being sent an IHS reference.

    Fingers crossed!

    Thanks folks.

This is getting beyond a joke.

Directed to IHS site - as Kris's 14 year old son remember.

It's saying there are missing details "Add where you are planning to stay" - but that's only required if staying in Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey!!!

It also states that the visa type applied for is the Child or other Dependant Person - which isn't true either. He's applying as the dependant son of my fiancée Kris.

Also there is no box to continue or go back - so it looks like I can't proceed to make payment.

This process is hugely frustrating / borderline shambolic.

Anyone got any inspiration / magic wand?

    I can't remember what I wrote there!

    Sorry!

Isn't that what you chose in the category? As the Child or other Dependant Person. Maybe it's only reflecting that.

Sorry can't shed more light on this. Never experienced that before.

I can't recall what you're referring to. Will recheck our online application to see what I put there.

It is really frustrating but if your heart is in it, you'll know it's worth every stress.

    Anyway,
Planning to stay - just give your address. I didn't have problem in that part.

Visa type - settlement - child or other dependent of a settled person. It'll fall on "other dependent"
HE IS YOUR FIANCE's SON. Live with it now.

Tip: keep saving and update if needed. They won't allow you to pay unless there's missing or wrong details. Green box indicates page is completed. take things slowly but surely.

    Hope this helps.

Hi @Brom - yes, I did select that visa sub-option as there wasn't an option that specifically suited or circumstances i.e. Mother and dependant child. The problem is - I think - that the system thinks that I am the Father and I'm trying to bring a dependant into the country and therefore need to pay the £500 surcharge from the get go.

In one of @joi1991's posts she explained she encountered a similar issue but when she was diverted to the IHS site she didn't have to pay but, instead, received a reference number. I really don't understand why the system is treating us differently as her circumstances are the same as my Kris.

It's even more baffling as when I reached the IHS site I was not given an option to pay or cancel or even go back - just a message saying there is additional information required - about the bloody Isle of Man / Jersey etc.

In short it's a big mess - and we're now in a situation where the application / fee / appointment has been made for Kris but the same for her son is in limbo.

I think I am going to have to call the UKVI helpline tomorrow - at premium rates no doubt. I can see us having to cancel this application (the son's) and start afresh.

    Hacked off!

That's very annoying then. Sorry about your plight. I would've thought you won't be able to pay it like Joy did. I hope you can sort that out somehow. :)

I have jumped through exactly the same hoops but alas I cannot remember what I did.

I thought there was a category for "stepfather".

Hi @joi1991 thanks. I of course accept that Kris's son is not mine! I have no issues with this whatsoever.

I save regularly but unless I can get the IHS issues resolved I cannot progress to the payment selection. You know this of course.

Hopefully I can get some assistance from the helpline tomorrow.

    All the best.

Hi all... Problem solved and visa payment now made. It was connected to the island question. I had to proactively state he was not going to be living there.

No IHS surcharge due at this stage - reference number provided.

Can't believe I'm so happy - particularly on a day that $3000 US has come out of my account!

    Onward and upwards!

    Thanks everyone - and goodnight!

Thanks @Brom27 & @joi1991 - just about to register with VFS to pay for courier service for documents.

The dreaded appendix still has to be completed but we have all the documents / information to enable this.

The expense is really crazy - but needs must and all that. Can't wait to see Kris and her son again...,this time for good!

Thanks for the ongoing encouragement - much appreciated!!!

Thanks a bunch @Maley - couldn't agree more. Beautiful winter morning here - snow covered hills nearby - gingerbread latte in hand and one step closer to being with my love --- and it's Friday!

    Kind regards.

Money well spent, just have a thousand few less pints when you go out to help pay for it :D

I know I had payment problems when we applied, extremely frustrating to say the least, anyway, done and dusted.

    Good luck
