Where do we go from here? I remember when we first arrived here. Me and my sibblings went to register ourselves but I forgot where, as it was long time ago. :(

Well, it doesn't all have to be done immediately but this is what happened with us over the course of a month or so:

1st off we went to buy my wife clothes and shoes for the UK autumn weather. She arrived on Oct 1st, you see.

2nd We registered her at the local doctor's surgery

3rd We got her name on the lease agreement and utility bills.

4th opened a joint bank account together.

5th went to the job centre and applied for a national insurance number.

Not strictly in that order. Though we bought her clothes, shoes and boots on the day after she arrived, as her bag was packed with her lightweight clothing from the Philippines.

The purpose of getting my wife on the utility bills is that you / we need the bills etc as evidence for the next hurdle ie ILR

I think that "aliens" are still meant to register with the local Police station. I seem to remember doing that.

They were about as interested as my local cop shop in Beijing was when I moved there, but in the UK I didn't have to climb over a mountain of winter cabbage on the cop shop steps.

Just relax and make her feel at home.

Get to know each other all over again, take her shopping..

A little retail therapy goes a long way ...:like:

Shopping is a must and Johns list is the list to follow...

And check out some local restaurants such as a Chinese buffet, nandos and anything your mahal shows an interest with (nandos reminds my wife of lechon manok).

The important thing, is that she familiarizes herself with her immediate surroundings.
And slowly, venture further afield, in exploratory trips.
Look for a nearest RC Church and encourage her to speak to local pinoys attending, in view of making some new friends, to help stave off some of the pangs of misery of homesickness....
Show her the way to the local asian stores near to your place, including any public transport needed to get there and back.

The list is endless.... But you will make it......:like:
