Now that it has been about for a while?

It's a shame that I have yet to try out the video chat but otherwise I really like it. And the recent games addition is pretty good too (And Al, I'm spanking you on Angry Birds btw :D ).

Though I think Facebook is improving, it has a long way to go to cover the same features. And when it does, Google+ might just suffer...

Got to be honest, I really haven't been able to dedicate any time at all during the past month.
I did have a quick play for a couple of days, but that was just to try and understand how it all works. I'm really not a computer techie and it does take me plenty of time to figure things out.

Our daughter will be with us here for another month yet. She goes back to Pinas early October.

    Still running flat out. :vhappy:

TBH I'm a little bored with facebook (closing it down now) and can't see any reason to join another social network site.

Well I did join up just because it was not facebook but I feel a tremendous reluctance to use it for various reasons but mostly because privacy is a valuable thing.

I use Flickr but I can kind of keep myself private on Flickr and I tend to use other specific forums like this one and like the car and photography forums I am on and I find this much more rewarding than what I see on the likes of facebook or google+

As for facebook I hide behind Ana, my only experience of it is using her account which I've done a lot recently as her favourite nephew got married a few days ago and I wanted to see the pictures, very nice lad and very nice couple and while it cost me I was pleased that Ana and the kids got nicely outfitted as the kids were flower girl and page boy and Ana was Ninang (sponsor)

Me too. I closed my Facebook and Twitter months ago, and I wont be signing up with G+. Elsa still has her Facebook which she uses on a daily basis to keep up with her family in Tacloban.

p.s. Had to laugh at Firefox built in spell checker - it got Tacloban confused with Taliban.:erm:

I closed my Facebook account a couple of weeks ago - I only needed it because I was an admin on a Facebook group. Despite having security at absolute maximum, as soon as you have any 'friends' on Facebook then friends of friends still know of your existence! That ended up with my fiancée's soon-to-be ex, threatening her he would go to the Police for adultery.

As I understand it, a woman can only be charged with adultery in the Philippines if the man she is having an adulterous relationship with is charged at the same time! The penalty for adultery is a maximum of seven years.

That is why I don't like Facebook and why I have not been to the Philippines in over two years. Not even bothered to look at Google Plus.

"keep yourself to yourself" or "keep yersel tae yersel" in glaswegian :D is an old phrase but very applicable to the internet.

I don't like the way that you cannot make your history go away, the same is true on sites like this (up to a point) but this place and other specialist forums are the much nicer side of social networking in my view.

Facebook and Google+ and all the others are the social network supermarkets compared to our little corner shop here :)

Facebook and presumably, Google Plus, actually encourage people to use real names, to stay in contact with people they really know. If I want to stay in contact with someone I really know, I will use a phone, text or YM. On forums such as this I use a pseudonym - Howerd is not my real name at all! I visit a specialist forum, such as this one, for a very good reason - knowledge about getting married to a Filipina - my friends and relatives cannot really help me with that!

Exactly, oss is a just special name for me, most of the guys here know who I really am but I prefer for it to be private mostly (same is true on the other small forums I use but not on the big ones:)).

I didn't really think your real name was OSS!

I know, sadly not allowed to reply with just a grin as posts have to have a minimum length :D

Oh we use Yahoo all the time, hope yahoo survives long term as they are starting to look a bit shaky these days :( :)

I joined google+, but haven't gone any further.
One social site is more than ample.
keeping in touch is very important, and my list of friends only contains people I actually met and respect.
I wouldn't post any photos, but my wife does it for me, wether I approve or not....

Works fine for me. If your referring to Microsoft wanting to get hold of Yahoo, I'm fine with that, as long as they leave Yahoo mail well alone. For me free Yahoo email is miles better than the likes of free Hotmail. Hotmail has a habit of silently dropping emails it doesn't think meets the seemingly unknown criteria. But that's another discussion for another time.

No Rob the problem yahoo has now is that Microsoft knows they have dodged a bullet and nobody else is likely to come along to rescue them at least not at the kind of exaggerated price they could have demanded a few years ago.
