Just a formality, the real pain is having to go to the Embassy, that's what puts me off.

    Yes. VFS. A right trek.
You will be okay as you can go to the Manchester Consulate.

Thats it. Flying on friday. 10 days in the Canaries. A lot of faffing about for the Schengen visa though.

Wish you a great holiday. Relax, the temperature is just right. keep well away from seemingly busy pavements, and make sure the mrs handbag is between the both of you, and at the front, never behind....

Well done and have a nice holiday.
The missus, kids and I will probably go next year but she will have a British passport so it will be easier.
I love Spain. Worked there many, many months back in the late 70's and lived there also.
Just don't fancy the stress (and expense) of travelling to Phils whilst the nippers are still small.
    Buen Viaje.

Well. You are right. Even for a four hour flight it will be a bit stressful. But we weighed it up against a trip to the Philippines and the hours on the plane with a 2 year old seemed a little daunting to the Mrs. Once we are there we will chill.

Wifes mate is travelling to the Philippines in the New Year, with her 2 year old and we just know its going to be a challenge with him on the flight(s). Just her and the young boy.

The long flight is quite easy compared to the hassle and stress of travelling in Phils with small children.
So many bags and so many un-user friendly modes of transportation.
OK for older kids who can carry bags and enjoy everything around them.
Dusty and slow roads which are fun for adults especially backpackers but draining on little ones and their parents.

Weather great. The four hour flight was a challenge with the 2 year old. Not much rice on the menu but the wife likes the paella so that helps a lot. No sign of any undesirables, except for inconsiderate smokers who tend to leave their dog-ends everywhere.

Clearing passport control both ways was a faff. Coming back the airline staff couldnt see why my wife's Spouse Visa had expired. And seemed set to prevent her from boarding our flight back to the UK. LOL. Once I explained that she had Indefinite Leave to Remain, they eventually cottoned on.
