Fiancee visa might be more tricky because you need to find more proof of a genuine relationship.

Spouse visa might be more tricky because you need to go Philippines and get married first.

Fiancee visa means one extra visa application, which costs more, but that is maybe offset by cost of going to Philippines to get married.

It's not a lot of difference though. Documentation is pretty much the same apart from the marriage certificate you'll have from the marriage.

John and Juby. Its probably true to say that they both have advantages in equal measure. It just depends on what suits you as a couple. We went the spousal visa route which suited us.

Best to sit down and have a think which might suit you the best as a couple.

I was strapped for time off work. I managed to find a way of getting married in just about 2 weeks. My mother in law insisted on a wedding in the Philippines. So we had no choice. :D

Hi yes I looked at the timescale and came up with obtain certificate of no impediment to marry on day 1 day 2 lodge with civic hall wait 10 days for licence marry then fly home then lodge visa application, Juby not struck on traveling on her own so would have to fly out to bring her back shes worth it! Fiancee visa appears slicker

Yes. I understand. My wife wanted me to fly out and fly back with her. I couldnt get time off work. So we compromised and I met her in Amsterdam as she stepped off the flight from Manila. We then flew to Manchester together.

    Hi John
Did you do that so your wife didnt have to go through uk immigration on her own

    4 reasons.

Firstly as my wife wasnt familiar with international travel.
Secondly, her English wasnt that great.
Thirdly. To help with the transfer which we couldnt avoid.
And yes, fourthly, because of the potential for difficulties going through immigration.

She probably would have been okay but she wasnt confident so that was a big factor.
