No point applying until you get the marriage certificate back from NSO, one could start gathering evidence, tho.
Unfortunately, it could take up to a couple of months for the NSO to release the document, sometime, it does take much less. We had to wait 4 months....

    Not necessarily.........
    That was only our experience...........

Other people did wait considerably less time.

    One suggestion.........
Try not to get married just before or just after Elections of any sort.........
Most Gov employees get drafted to run polling stations and counting areas, thus causing severe disruption to ever Gov department for weeks...

Most places do provide a payable service for expediting the issue of NSO marriage certificate.
That's just one key piece of documentary evidence though.
If all the other stuff is done then eligibility for application is a quick as securing the NSO cert.

Hi everyone!, i have a question about the spouse visa financial requirement . If he cannot meet the require 18.000annual income. Is it possible to use his savings as a proof of financial requirement. Stated in Appendix FM 1.7: Financial Requirement August 2015 savings of the applicant’s partner and/or the applicant, above £16,000, held by the partner and/or the applicant for at least 6 months and under their control. This is referred to as Category D.

welcome to the forum--Gie. the answer is--yes--savings can be used.

if you can tell us the annual income--we can calculate the amount of savings required. also--tell us if any dependant children are also to be sponsored.

ok--with a provable income of £14,000---there is a shortfall of £4,600 when calculating the income requirement of £18,600 for a sponsor bringing over a partner with no children.

    the savings formula is therefore-----£4,600 x 2.5 = £11,500 + £16,000 threshold
    = £27,500

these savings need to have been held in a/c for 6 months prior to visa application. the source of funds needs to be stated--legally obtained--and cannot be a loan.

so that means he should have 27500 cash savings within 6months??? or can he include his past savings like a year savings???

Hi @kolmeberto, your application was fast, how long did you wait for your authenticated marriage certificate? I read that you got your visa as well. Congratulations! :)

My husband and I got married this December 29th and was told that the marriage certificate will be released after 2-3 months.
Would you mind to teach me what did you do that it seem you got the marriage certificate fast.
    Thank you
