Hi all, I 've not been on the site for a few months, just got back home, we were married in Philippines last month, fabulous. I'm asking for advice, we are waiting for the Marriage Certificate to arrive, then apply for Spouse Visa, should we apply using my wife's old passport or apply for new passport in married name before applying, we don't wont any problems over the name change.
Congratulations on your wedding If I were you update her passport into her married name. It's always easier to change it whilst in the Philippines. Although there is no problem using her maiden name in the application or if she's here in the UK it's just easier that she gets it done before coming here and then all her future documents (like bank account and all that) will be in her married name.
congratulations! also--if she gets a new phili passport now--it saves changing her UK BRP to her new name later on--which incurs a hefty fee.
Given the news about 5 year passports validity going up to 10 years in the Philippines it may be worth waiting.its going to be about 15 days time!
Thanks for quick replies. Yes, my wife is planning to apply for new passport as soon as she receives the Marriage Certificate. Thank you Deanobeano for your kind words.... We sent details of my wife's B.Sc Degree to NARIC, but they replied....not acceptable, so my wife will have to take speaking and listening test, is that right? Has anyone tried to appeal to NARIC?
