I've deliberately tried to show the real street but even then it is hard to find all that many of my pics that depict it properly, lots of Manila is very run down, lots of it is quite impressive, it is nothing if not dynamic, me I love the place in spite of the mess.

Some good photos and locations that I am familiar with. The day I first met my wife we went to Baclaren to eat, but right on the fringe. My wife advised me to take care and take care of my wallet. And of course I am familiar with roads to Cavite from Manila, as we did them most days.

Manila, like Jakarta and Bangkok, appears to be a city of contrasts with obvious signs of affluence and the modern, on the one hand and extreme poverty on the other. When I first visited Jakarta, about 10 years ago I hadn't seen the poverty like it since I had spent time in Angola way back in the early 80's.

But what frustrates me (and my wife also) is that where I live ie the Isle of Man, there is nothing like the modern malls that one sees in the Philippines. In that sense, we back here, are a step behind.

Street photography is quite intrusive Stu, and this chap could see I was taking his picture from the safety of my taxi, I do feel guilty about grabbing some shots like these.

I do enjoy those candid shots as well. My wife refers to them as "stolen moments".. And when you get a good picture like that guy almost sat down, it tells a story in itself.

That is true, i've tried to do it in the past without people noticing so you get their true character but it hard out there being 6"4 and white. i tend to stick out a little bit!!!

Stolen moments is a good of describing them.
