Hi Guys Finally submitted the online visa. Had to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge, which came to £630. The cost of submission for the visa was £1065. So it is quite expensive now to apply for a visa with the additional health surcharge. One thing I noticed is that on the printed form it has my name on the "Form Completed By" and not my wife's. I think this is to do with who registered the online account. Will we get pulled up on this or not? Is it worth putting something in the cover letter to cover it off? Cheers Andy
You just missed out there? A few days earlier and you could have saved some money. Presumably you could not make the submission last week?
Yes just missed out. The wife just got her IELTS this week, so was just waiting on that one. Its a good thing that I was saving
Timmers, not sure how they calculated it. I went through the calculator on the surcharge website and it came to £600, but when I went to pay it was in dollars and converted it to sterling.
Was it straight forward filling the form in for the NHS surcharge? You're the first one on the forum to pay it that's why I'm interested
i'm puzzled by the £630. i thought the total NHS surcharge was £200 a year--x 5 years = £1000====2 x £500 first half payable at first visa app if over 6 months--and the second half at FLR
So that was spousal visa for 2.5 years Andy? That was more than what we were deliberating on here a few days ago but obviously it must be correct. In regards to you being the one filling out the form makes no difference whatsoever. It seems pretty obvious that their main aim in the money element . But of course the other requirement are important.
I thought that you paid for the visa term, for example 2.5 years for a FLR or initial spouse visa, then pay again when you extend. We need some clarity
That was my assumption, I mean you can't guarantee the further visa or circumstances will be the same as the first.
I would like to understand the new payment, £630 doesn't equate from what I've read. One thing I just did find out is that you should write your IHS (NHS surcharge reference number) on the cover of the visa submission. Note that you also get a IHS number even if you are exempt from the payment, this also has to be included with the visa.
I went onto the website https://www.immigration-health-surcharge.service.gov.uk/payment/start and submitted two scenarios 1.) As Settlement, Wife (Outside UK - from Cebu, Philippines) - Charge $936 2.) As Marriage Visa, FLR(M) (inside UK) - Charge £500 I need to submit another scenario of Settlement inside UK to confirm my suspicion that although the charge has only just come in they are getting the full amount regardless of where you are in the visa process. Just a suspicion, I will try tomorrow, its late. As you can see in the link, the charge is not required once you reach ILR
Spotted a mistake on my online visa application form after the submission - reading up, there is a consensus that my wife can strikethrough the mistake, enter the correct information on the hard copy and initial. Also explain the change on the cover letter. Any ideas ?
Yes that makes sense and I guess it's the only real feasible way of amending a mistake from an online application.
with a spouse visa--the first £500 is paid before the settlement visa app fee----the 2nd £500 is at FLR stage. with a fiancee visa---the app is temporary--for 6 months max--so no NHS fee is paid at that stage--- but it is when 1st FLR and 2nd FLR is applied for. I THINK---but i doubt if even the powers that be at UKVI know any better. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- bearing in mind--a 1st stage FLR app---after the wedding--is ? £900 ish--if applied in person---so makes a bit of sense to fly out to filis to get hitched.
