    Hi all,

I changed my surname years ago via deed poll and my wife and I are applying for her settlement visa.
I know I have to submit a certified copy of my passport but how about my birth certificate and deep poll?

Also, I thought the sponsorship form SU07 applied?

As always, any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Just found one answer, SU07 firm is not required for settlement visa. A bit strange though as I am effectively responsible for my Mrs financially, however she could work...
Would submitting it be a negative?
Oh gosh, the application makes you scratch your head...

No the SU07 is not required for the settlement visa, since the new rules came in (2012) you are effectively providing evidence you will be supporting your wife through the financial requirement of the visa.

Thanks Timmers, you have always been a great help. Not only to myself but to others too.

What are your thoughts on my name change, should I submit my birth certificate and deep poll?
I would have thought that just my passport would have been enough?

If I was you I would submit birth certificate and deed poll just to be sure there is no confusion on the UKVI part. At the end of the day the UKVI can carry out checks if they like just to get clarification, by submitting documents relating to your change of name you are showing you have nothing to hide. It will not be the first time they have seen this.

As you will have already seen here on the forum we tend to go over the top a little just to give us extra confidence in the application.

Thanks again, that is a true.
I was worried about confusing them.
I fly tonight, it's an expensive way of getting the documents there but it's also a chance to see my wife :)

Enjoy yourself, and yes I cannot think of a more reliable way of getting your documents to the Philippines, just make sure you put the documents in your hand luggage just in case your luggage goes astray :)
