    Hi, All

I married my Philippine fiancée last week and we're now planning the Spouse Visa application (she's currently halfway through the 6-months Settlement/Marriage Visa which ends 31st July). We're aware that we need to inform the Philippine Embassy in UK of Our marriage, but we're unsure which surname to register her with. We already have most of the visa supporting documents but they're in her maiden-name, so we're unsure if UK Immigration will refuse the application if her surname appears differently on other documents.

So, would it be best to inform the Embassy of her using her married surname, and waiting till all other documents display the new surname before applying for the Spouse Visa? Another concern with changing her surname on the passport is whether she receives the updated passport back in time for the visa application.

We'd be grateful for any info/advice, please.

    Thanks!

We are on the 2nd stage of FLR and yet to change my wife's name to her married name on passport etc. We have travelled back to the Philippines and to the USA no issues.
    Good Luck with the application

Thanks. We'll wait till the visa is sorted before we worry about changing her name now we know that's fine.

We did a change of name when it was time to apply for a new passport.

Be careful with the "Report of Marriage". You need an official document. We had to order it from NSO, even though it was just an official copy of the Report of Marriage we got at the Embassy.

The Embassy Website says you can report the marriage and change the name in the passport at the same time, but that isn't the case. I was not impressed!

After we got married (in 2010), we went to London for our honeymoon and to visit the embassy to report our marriage and extended the validity of my current passport then (it was about to expire) so I can apply for my FLR (I was on fiancee visa). I'm not sure if they stull do that now. So then, I applied for FLR under my maiden name as it is the name in my passport. When I got my FLR, we went back to London to renew my Philippine passport under my married name - using the NSO validated copy of my Report of Marriage. New passport was released under my married name. It may not be exactly the same process, but most likely have some similarities to today's visa/passport processes.
