Its no surprise to me that tablet sales have been on the decline, bit of a gimmick really, nothing wrong with the trusty laptop, I cant see anything coming along to outdo the laptop, its perfect for almost every work and play application. The advent of more media orientated mobile phones has also added to the decline of the iPad, not a lot you cannot do with a smart phone.

I think you hit the nail on the head regards smart phones. All together more convenient than a tablet.

Especially as screens are becoming larger on phones now....my tablet feels too big! However you can't beat a laptop for serious work..

This is big issue for me though. I don't want a phone with a large screen, I don't want a phone to watch films on or work as a computer. I want a phone to make calls, check email and a bit of internet, but most of all it needs to fit in my pocket. Blokes will be carrying bags round with themselves soon just to fit their phone in. Just my view obviously.

I never wanted a tablet, and I had to argue viciously with my wife when she wanted an iPad a few years back, only because one of her friends had one....
I lost, of course, but we compromised on her having the "mini" version... She wasn't too happy about it at the time, but either that or nothing... My main reasoning against it was that she already had an all singing and dancing with bells on smartphone and a tablet was overkill without the luxury of a phone line.. needless to say, I only touch it when it is in my way....
Recently I was issued, for work, with a Samsung Galaxy Tab4g....... That is to take orders on for immediate dispatch, company email, and although I can use it for private purposes I don't... as it tracks everything I do on the company behalf, even worse than google or facebook would..
I tend to leave it at home all the time..........

My son and DiL gave me this Acer iconia 10" tablet for Xmas..I keep it by my bed.

Some advice though...its loaded with Facebook..messenger...but the instant photo facility doesn't work. The camera does...but it means I have to come out of messenger..take the PIC...then upload PIC to messenger. No one knows what's wrong. I've been to PC world..but it beat the guy there.

Also..why is PIC in caps ?...I don't do it.
