Looks like it might be Talisay?

You got a nice day to visit there Sean, it's always been wet and dreary when I have been there or have been passing on the way elsewhere.

Went to visit Dasmarinas City which is where Joy's Tita Tess and brother JoJo live. From there they drove me down to Tagaytay, and the picture was taken from a picnic park (not sure of the name of it).

My wife is also from Dasmarinas. Her mom has a little house there. So I have been there. When I visited last year they took me to Tagaytay, Batangas and Laguna. All were great.

During my second trip out there, last year, we stayed at Island Cove in Cavite.

Island Cove is really nice, exactly 5.5 miles from our place, we go there for the pool quite often.

I am rather fond of the Subic/Ologapo region - I think the girlie bars are pretty much limited to the Barreto/ Subic City area and there are some really nice restaurants and ships, espescially with the new |(and very posh) mall. I've never been to a part of the Philippines that did not have a few "KTV Disco" places scattered about.

But my interest in this thread is practical, we were discussing places to go for Christmas and Tagaytay was on the list.. any recommendations for hotels and places to visit (two adults, one four year old...)

Ah. Small world. We had our wedding reception there too. My wifes mother and some of her family work for the owner(s). I have to say, I have seen so little of the Philippines, but I did enjoy my stay there.

    Yes. Excellent photos.

Our visit to Tagaytay was just a day visit. But I noticed heaps of hotels there. Well, not heaps, but a reasonable amount.

Was it the Peoples Park in the Sky?

Can't really help there only been in Tagatay once and only for a day out, would love to visit again though.

I think though that there is a lot of property to rent down there so probably best to have a look on sulit.com.ph although would be nice to get something verifiable by someone you know over there.

You should also remember that all the various resorts will be busy and much more expensive at Christmas, we've gone away a couple of times and prices went up a lot around Christmas, Hotel prices in general have gone through the roof over there in the last 7 years, particularly in the really well known resorts like Boracay where prices are now up to 4 or 5 times what they would charge in 2005.

You've actually given me an idea as I had thought to maybe go up to Baguio this Christmas but I'm not looking forward to the 6 hour drive (can't fly as we have too many people in tow) Tagatay would be a good alternative, much cooler in general and incredibly scenic.

Theres a girl that I am sure I have seen enrol here recently, who in another world, showed pictures of her and her hubby in the small crater, complete with steam and all. I said to her wow, wasn't it hot and she said yes a little but evidently she and her hubby went there regularly. She is in the UK now though.

Yes, Baguio was on the list, as well as Palawan - Palawan got crossed off as, "We've been to the beach too much and I'm too brown!"(code for "if you think I'm going to wear that bikini you like so much on a Philippines beach - in your dreams, sunshine!");)

Good point about hotel prices at Christmas... maybe we shall just stay put...

It would be hot down at sea level and probably in the crater :D pretty cool further up the slopes.

I think the crater is off limits just now as the volcano has been acting up a lot in recent years, a big danger in Tagatay might be a massive release of CO2, even without a major explosion, which could smother villages closer to sea level.

My pal went out to the central crater long long time ago back around the end of the last century.

Baguio is I believe still quite cheap, we were going to go up around 18 months ago with Ana's niece and her husband Dhren as Dhren has a nice two year old Mitsubishi people carrier and we would have split the petrol, at the time they thought they could get a place for 1500 peso a night or thereabouts, which is similar to the kind of rates being charged in and around Olongapo a few years back.

For me Taygaytay is just wonderful. I love the whole area there.
It's a relatively quick and very easy trip from our house in Marikina.
I never get bored with our regular visits there.

There are many places there I would dearly love to live, but unfortunately way outside my budget.

I remember looking for sub div lots about 5 years ago in Tagaytay.. Back then the prices were 10,000 PHP per Sqr mtr and up.. No idea what they are now though..
Last time I was there we walked up to the new SM condo`s..Perhaps the owners or even the SM agents are renting the units out now?
As you may know,we have apartments in Imus,Cavite.. Not a place where I would choose to live as I love it too much here in Bohol.. That said, all of our tenants are foreigners and seem to love the place.. BTW,Imus is now officially a city and Im told there are plans for the LRT to go right through to Dasma.. That should make it a whole lot easier to get to and from Manila if it happens..
Baguio is OK but the pollution on sessions road is becoming beyond bad... I really used to love Baguio but its too over populated now for me.. Nice place for a summer break but thats about all for me these days.
