Totally off topic this but this guy was a captain for Cathay. I only mention it because I like diving and his final dive was for a good reason but was very tragic story, The website is maintained in his memory that's why it looks old. http://deepcave.com/pages/3/index.htm

Timmers have you flown with Qatar? Not that I'm well travelled but I personally think they are the best airline I've flown with[/QUOTE]

I have never had the chance to fly them yet but a colleague of mine did a while back and he compared them with Emirates for service and the like, which cant be at all bad. Its good to hear peoples thoughts about airlines as it makes you think a little before choosing an airline, especially when you're booking and paying yourself.

Good to hear there are still some large companies out there that care for their employees, wish there were more of them.

Just perusing through the website it looks like that kind of cave diving could be extremely dangerous if you are not well trained and versed in that sort of diving. Seems pretty technical too.

That particular guy was meticulous in his preparations and approach to rebreather diving. I guess thats what happens when you push to those limits. More people have landed on the moon than people who have dived to those depths. Not only did he dive to those depths he also tried body recovery. The exertion at those depths was his failure, unfortunately

That's a problem some people don't always pick up on until its too late, ends up costing the passenger more than the price of the ticket to get to the city centre.

A brave chap indeed, very thoughtful act trying to recover the body of a fellow diver.

Ah yes, LARA. I treasure the memory of the hostie who told us as we arrived at Sebha "We hope you have had a pleasant FRIGHT and will come to FRY with us again"

Before that there was the queue for the heads on a BOAC VC10 between Benghazi and Tripoli (this was a real stopping service flight - Aden, Cairo, Benghazi, Tripoli, London) - the hostie used the pass key and found an elderly Libyan who had not cared for the lunch he had been given with his charcoal brazier alight on the WC floor...
