This reminds me of a visit I actually made to Angeles a few years ago, but b4 I say anything about my brief visit I will say I have never had any inclination to spend any time with a lady of the night during my lifetime.
I guess it was about 6 years ago now, I was visiting my then G/f now my wife down on Mindanao, but a very close friend of mine was visiting some other mutual friends up in Quezon city so I flew up to spend a few days with them, we arranged to hire an Uber for the day and travelled across to Subic Bay basically to see the old naval base, anyways on the return journey my friend suggested we detour to Angeles City which we all agreed to do, whilst the others visited some Malls in Angeles my friend and I took a walk down Fields Avenue and for me it was a bit of an eye opener we were constantly proposed to by these local ladies and ladyboys, the bars from what I could see from the outside appeared mostly frequented by foreigners, the local ladies were usually hanging around the fronts of these Bars displaying their wares, anyways we walked the length of Fields Avenue "The walking street" getting stopped numerous times and asking only ME :Dif I required Viagra, we then turned around and went back to a Bar near to the entrance of Fields avenue, I had a soft drink ( I rarely drink alcohol) while we discussed the plan of action, he had seen a lady that he really fancied so we agreed I would finish my drink then wait for him outside Mcdos whilst he went on a short visit, I got propositioned a number of times while I was outside McDos by guys of the same sex which didn't really go down very well with me at all :D as I have no penchant for dabbling in same sex stuff at all, anyways eventually after what seemed an eternity and about half a dozen fags my mate strolled up and we phoned for the Uber to come and pick us up from where we were waiting, suffice to say my mate didn't really enjoy the experience and it was all to brief.

Back to the story in the Guardian I guess this has always been an issue of children being born from casual sexual encounters, in this day and age with various means of preventing pregnancies it should not be happening but I guess it comes down to the cost of prevention or maybe losing a potential client if he prefers to not use protection, it's a tough old world out there and people have to find ways to survive and sometimes it comes at a cost to the ones least able to afford it..

Why the heck do Filipina women want to have white-skinned babies?
I heard many over there say that was their dream.

The old Spanish mestiza/mestizo dream,a lot claim to have Spanish ancestry, indoctrinated into white skin is best, look at the sales of skin whitening products.

That's not happening, look on somewhere like Reddit Philippines, the younger generation dislikes the country and who they are as a people, they all want to escape the country.

my wife was obsessed with her skin colour--buying these lotions and potions--but since her care home has " imported " 4 indian women--it seems she is no longer concerned.

What a crying shame that is. I wonder why the Filipino psyche is not strong?

Pinoys in places like the Middle East, and even the Philippines itself aren’t really valued, they are cheap labour, the current generation want an education and a citizenship of a country that value them, hence the brain drain of those who can escape.

I suppose the problems lie with the system and such a lack of opportunities at home.
    A shame really.

Remember….Nurses in Covid wards were on 50 peso extra a month,a MONTH.They aren’t valued in the PI,when your country treats you as a tradable commodity it’s time to get the hell out of dodge.

I suppose the government in Manila are more concerned with the OFW's and the foreign currency they bring to the country.

Yup, more concerned with the currency, people are their business, I remember seeing something about OFW are our hero's in NAIA 1 yet the departure tax for an OFW at the time when they were flying abroad was twice what I paid as a tourist, yup "Hero's" the country treat as cash-cows to milk dry.
