Hey guys, Well, the “Help the Taylors” appeal has officially ended (as per my write up a few months back). Anyway, We raised £210 which is good and will be welcomed by the Taylors. Though sadly below the £300 I was hoping we could raise – which I would then have added £100 to boost it to £400. Now, I know a lot of you have had struggles this year so please don’t feel bad for donating minimal amounts – charity begins at home after all! But I am thinking of extending this – giving it another month or two to get to the £300 (and hence the £400) Or should we just make it a Christmas fund like the last one? However, I was also thinking about doing something more… Previously, I mentioned making some sort of online campaign for them highlighting how Kevin and Charlene are basically serving a sentence whilst on remand and trying to boost it with this site and other methods. Anyway…. I have been recently had the idea of creating a website (nice and clean like Euro Pinoy, easy on the eye) that features articles, a timer adding days to the amount of time they’ve been held without prosecution. And maybe even a video on the main page giving a small talk about what this is all about. And perhaps even providing letter templates to the Foreign Secretary/British Ambassador to the Philippines to lobby for their assistance.
I think that the website is a very good idea. The most terrifying thing of all is getting forgotten - whilst two silly tarts who tried to smuggle cocaine into Ibiza get yards of K Press coverage because one of them is a "night club hostess" (see "GRO") and the papers can print a photo of her wearing not-a-lot Would £210 now be better than £400 later? We could run another fund for Christmas.
Good to provide support... But the higher the (unimportant) public profile, the harder it will be for the Taylors. Don't forget the "loss of face" for officials involved. Never push a stick into a hornets nest! Just my opinion.
This Sunday I am stripping the site down and installing everything from fresh. Including the donations plug in. Sadly, the hacking did make me remove some stuff and we cannot be 100% certain until the site is new and clean once more. Not had time to do it at all recently. Then we will issue a countdown and finish the donations and get them sent over.
This is back up and running... Well, it is for the next 28 days. There has been £250 donated so far. If the figure gets to £300, then I will ensure £400 gets sent to Gerald Taylor. Let the countdown begin!
