Not coy about it reluctant for different reasons, fir my son it was the middle of his A levels and I didn't want to drop any bombshells that would disrupt his studies. My ex was in the middle of divorcing me and apart from it not being any of her business who I might marry I also didn't want her thieving witch of a solicitor getting wind of it and slowing things down anymore than they were. With my parents I just knew what the negative response would be, my dad, the man I used to respect and look up to actually shouted at me probably fir the first time in 40 years saying 'how can you not see she is just after your money and a British passport' For an intelligent man I find it hard to believe that he thought that it was that easy! The Daily Mail has a lot to answer for!

Unfortunately that is generally inbreed into most people of that generation. I had it a little bit with my folks (both now in their late 60's). I had spent time with another girl in the phil's before my wife so they probably realise the likelyhood of me settling down with an english girl was slim. When I told them I was going to get married out there I obviously asked then to come but my dad didn't want to go. In the end I said "look it'll be nice if you're there but in truth I'm not bothered by it either way, its our day". In the end my folks made the flight across 5 days before the wedding, stayed 2 weeks and had a nice relaxing time and got on well with the wife. They treat her like a daughter though the wife in certain mad moments (once a month!) does claim they think she is a gold digger etc, this is of course nonsense.

I agree with that, English girls anyway, don't know if its the case with Filipinas though but I could be wrong.

Couldn't say for sure, but one thing I can say is that Mrs M knows which of her friends shave their bits so I suspect they're not so different behind closed doors!

So getting back on topic... English language tests finally received from Hopkins after several months of faffng around. Dated 12 April 2014 so just inside the UKBA cutoff for accepting ETS tests! Final scores are 390 for listening, 305 for reading and 140 for speaking, by my reckoning that puts her at C1 level, can anyone confirm this and put my mind at rest?

On the on going plans, spent the night last night in the 'honeymoon suite' (with four poster bed no less!) In tagaytay, had to go visit the bank again to pay the final balance on the reception, nobody takes credit cards here and mine has a pooey £250 daily limit. Anyway with the honeymoon suite 'fully tested' and now paid for I can relax a little (as can the bank!)

The wine is ordered and we just need to pick up some beer and the reception is done. Tomorrow night is the night before the wedding party, got red horse and empirador on standby and yesterday had a 50 kilo pig slaughtered for Saturdays lechon, costs more than cooking separate dishes but will guarantee feeding everyone for a couple of days at least and saves mum in law the hassle of cooking. I have of course got the obligatory videoke machine hired for the night. Several of the wedding guests will be there early so should be a good night!

Nope. Gives the overall scores and the percentage breakdowns but no mention of the CEFR ranking that UkBA require.

I will check tonight. As I have had to check my wifes recently for another reason. BRB later.

From memory she scraped a C1 too.
