You're right it is over developed, we have lost sight of the things that really count in life, its all about work, money and keeping up with the Jones's.
I have often found that the poorer countries I have worked are the happiest countries, they don't seem to have the baggage and the stress that we tend to carry. By the way Ian, if you're reading this note that we tend to veer away from the original post sometimes, its an age thing, sorry
Agree with u 100% abt the Philippine people the two things they have is pride & respect for their families
We have a lot to learn from countries like the Philippines, especially when it comes to looking after your family

As a techy nerdy type and a Scot who was not very good at history, I had to look that up, War of the Roses, White Rose of York and Red Rose of Lancaster, did I get it right?
I see it everyday how helpful my fiancee is to her family, she has quite a good salary due to working in finance at the Acacia hotel. She cares more about all her family being feed and looked after than herself, even though it is quite stressful for her at times. So when I'm there its like a holiday for her, so to say a break from the daily routine. For me living in German so long and not seeing the helpfulness (to many self centered people) then seeing how helpful and caring Filipinos are just warms my heart even more, plus I feel more at home there than anywhere else. Friends don't ask when I'm visiting again they ask when am I coming home.
