Philippines was listed as No3 plastic polluter of the oceans in the world after China and Indonesia, the ocean is just one huge tipping ground.

When tourism comes back there, they should get divers to put plastic and masks into cages and pull everything out.
The government should let the divers do it without having to pay for the dive; they could get more experience and help the eco-system at the same time.

Dive tourism isn't such a big thing in the PI compared to let's say Thailand, its education of the country's population that's needed, remember how dead the sea looked for a couple of km out when you used to fly into manila? Its using the sea as a convenient dumping ground that's the problemo, the masks are a tiny % of that.

Never mind about charging the tourist, they should pay them for cleaning the bloody ocean for them! Let the divers do that as their part time! :) So they can earn money while they are having fun on their holiday!

That would be even better :like: Would the government pay for it though?

It's beyond the comprehension of the government, look at the manila beach project, the cleanest seas in the PI are in the south, where there are less people, which equals less pollution and plastics.

Every diver should take a string bag with them to bring back plastic junk.
I have seen that stuff at many dive sites there.

The most aggressive sea creature I have seen was a grouper.
I was drift diving in Cozumel, Mexico and took a plastic bag with rice inside and put it into my BCD (buoyancy control device = jacket).
A massive grouper appeared and saw a few bits of rice near me.
It banged into me with so much force that it started me spinning as I was being pushed by the strong current.
It did it again a couple of times so I got the bag out and released the rice into the water which made it happy and it lost interest with me as it munched away.
You realise that you are not in your own comfort zone when that happens.
It doesn't have to be big fish. I was in the Maldives and had lost my booties (which insert into the fins). I used white socks to stop the fins from rubbing and all was well until I got to the island at the end of the dive.
Hundreds of little fish thought my socks were food (bread?) and nipped the hell out of me :lol::lol:

Bucket list for me is fish for giant grouper in Florida, I would have done it already but my friend who had a boat there moved back to UK.
