For anyone interested in how much spam this site gets hit with on a daily basis... Here is a list of what came by today and got bounced out by our anti spam measures. I've kept the IP address and emails visible for you guys, if they get picked up by another spambot and get hit with spam themselves, that'll be mildly ironic and serves them right.;)

Just don't send them any emails yourselves.... :erm:

As these examples show, they are so easy to spot! humans don't use email addresses like "wtjsgx@miumiushopjp.com", even if that had gotten through it'd be banned or deleted within hours if not minutes.

A note to would be spammers:

If you sign up, your messages get moderated and links are such an obvious give away. Also, I have enabled all new sign ups to amend their profile page, as the profiles are off limits to search engine spiders - so why waste a link, given the fact I will remove it soon after it gets planted anyway??

GoogleMail, aka GMail, is a favoured email provider by the spamming community as you only need one actual GMail address from which you can create several others simply by introducing dots in the name part.

For example: "ro.dne.yx.n@gmail.com" is on your list as are "r.odn.eyx.n@gmail.com" and "ro.d.n.e.y.x.n@gmail.com" and all three actually point to the same GMail address - "rodneyxn" - but many (or most) web-sites don't actually check for this apparent loop-hole.

On my Forum (LiPF), the "gatekeepers" automatically block anyone using "list.ru" or "mail.ru" as an email provider as well as a sizable number of service providers including Amazon AWS (Amazon's "cloud" service).

The domain name does actually exist, albeit registered anonymously and probably just used for spamming.

Another feature of GMail is the ability to send emails via multiple other email accounts.

Any email system can be manipulated by spammers, there are programs available for spammers to register to multiple forums and blogs and the software does most of the work including setting up emails and usernames. These are those mad usernames listed above, the user sits back and waits for their spam software to sign up to hundreds of sites and then they flood them with links and sometimes code that can be malicious.

Sadly, there are forums out there with no moderation at all and spammers flood the place with offers for various drugs, illegal material and worse. So spammers find these sites and hit them with links in the hope that Google picks them up and uses them towards making that site relevant.

Seems to me that between you guys and anti-spam devices, we can enjoy our forum without any nonsense from these numpties.

    Well done :like:
