I always spend days planning my flights and hotels using excel spreadsheets, making sure that everything is correct before booking, then analysing the data after I have travelled.

    TripCase
I have just started using TripCase as a trip management tool, I am very impressed with it.

    • Add flights automatically by e-mailing the flight confirmation.
    • Manually add hotels to your trip.
    • View the complete trip on the website, or using the mobile app.
    • Alerts you to flight delays.
    • View maps And lots more.
    • Keep all your trip details in one place.
    • Free.
In January it alerted me to a one hour flight delay departing from SGN, half an hour before it was announced on the airport departure boards.

    FlightRadar24
Another good app, I have been using the website for years, and purchased the Android app last year.

Cost me £1.99 for the app and £1.49 for the airport arrival departure board add on.

Bought mine about 1.5 years ago. Great App. I also like the Kayak app for price alerts

    FlightDiary.net

No video for this one, but below is the example shown on their log-in page.

After you have flown you sign into FlightDiary.net, and enter all your flight details into the website.

The site keeps a track of all your flights, and you can view a profile map of where you have flown, as well as a full statistical breakdown of booking class, seat, reason, continent, airports, airlines, aircraft, routes, longest flights etc.

Some nice pie charts as well, almost enought to turn you into a plane spotter.

    Brilliant! :D

Agreed, Kayak, SkyScanner, Expedia are all very good flight search engines.

But they do not always have the best options or prices, always check multiple sites, especially the airlines own site.

For example MNL to PNH on Friday 3rd July, one way flight. Most flights are inconvenient with early departures or next day arrivals.

Thai Airways have a very convenient flight connection departing MNL at 13:05, arrive PNH at 19:25 with a 2:55 Stopover in BKK.

    Kayak Website = £ 595.
    Kayak App = £ 611
    SkyScanner = £ 615
    Expedia = £ 624

    Thai Airways own website = US$ 260.39 = £ 175 inclusive.

Yep wouldn't disagree with that. I can only speak in regards to the Kayak app in this respect as that is the only tool I've used (I'm not well travelled enough or have the time to use them all) but it will redirect you to the particular website that is offering the price. For me personally it's not always price. For example I'd never use "multiple airlines" as a way of travelling (codeshared yes of course) it's too inconvenient and I'd always worry if I miss my connecting flight, I'm screwed (or I'd get screwed) if the other airline refuses to accommodate me in providing another flight cheaply. I generally go to the airlines own website rather than use a 3rd party as this also gives me piece of mind, even if it's slightly extra in price, especially with kids in tow. I have used 3rd party providers before, indeed I did when the volcanic ash fell, they re-arranged my flight no problem, again I was alone traveller then (first trip to PI too).

Oh FR24, I whip it out on occasion when I see a plane going overhead, I no longer ask myself "where is that going I wonder", now I know :) Also follow them on twitter, they have also featured on many main news services in recent times due to recent calamities

I have been playing around with the Flight Connections website recently.

An excellent toy for flight planning, but it needs tidying up, and the database is incomplete.

Many of the KLM routes are currently missing.

    Hi! Dave_E!

I have just read in a post that an App for Android devices is launched to search flights to Philippines.

The travel agency that launches it is called Manila Flights.

it may be of interest to you! ;)

I tried that site to see what it would come up with for Davao to Bristol. All the suggested routings seem to assume that I'd be able to check-in for the long-haul sector at Davao. That would only be true if I chose Singapore Airlines/SilkAir - an expensive route - but not if I chose any other carrier out of Davao.

    My first problem with Flightdiary.

I flew into Blimbingsari airport in Banyuwangi yesterday, and Flightdiary will not recognise the flight number (GA7304), airport code (BWX), airport name, or town. Cannot get past the new input validation.

    Shattered. :(

Raised a support request, hope they can add it to their database soon.
