As you say spousal is valid 33 months but as long as you have been resident in the UK for 30 months and apply 28 previous to that, then you will still be within the 30 months, assuming you come into the UK within a few weeks of getting your spousal visa.

In my case no, the wife just looked at her BRP and it is valid for 33 months so I will be paying £600, I hope I'm wrong :)

When I first started Googling about the subject I read that is was just going to be applicable in England but on further reading up to date government information it will cover the UK.

I am already reading that there are loopholes and that the introduction of the charge is an election gimmick.

Ahh OK on BRP. Regardless on the length of validity. The legal requirement for ILR application is 60 months residence in the UK (obviously you can be out the country for a small amount of time over that period). That's how I see it anyhow.

I suppose we will see very soon how it all works out and exactly what the costs will be.

It gives us something else to moan about :D

There still seems to be a strange element to all this. What happens in the case where the married Filipina works and pays tax and national insurance? Will they be exempt? There appears to be no sign of that. So they would end up paying twice over.

Yep for spousal the applicant can work straight away and contribute to the country almost immediately on entry. Seems pushed through without much thought or care

as i said before--we are a soft--easy target.. immigration should turn its attention to all these unskilled unwanted eastern europeans rocking up here. we only need so many car washers.

How come it's 33 months? Ours is 30 months, which is 2.5 years. I thought this was the norm.

This means a payment of 500 quid next time.

They know it. They're just showing us the same lack of respect they always do.

People who come here to work will have to cough up too
I think it is 30 months, I think she has added how long she has been in the UK, she has the brains I have the calculator.
