Hi guys. My wife’s cousin in Manila has been ´engaged´ to a UK national, who has never married, for years. She was trying for an annulment but last year her husband died. She is now free to marry. It is hoped that will take place in Philippines in the new year. It was 15 years ago my wife and married in Manila (still happy and going strong). No doubt the requirements may have change. I should be grateful for up to date advice. Many thanks. John
Buenas Tardes, John. Good to see you here again Have a look at this interesting thread: http://www.british-filipino.com/index.php?threads/spousal-visa-or-tourist-visa.19256/
Hi Aposhark, Thanks for that info, but that´s will be the step at a later date. At present I need to know what´s required to get married. Thanks John
Pretty straight forward Bride to be the local civil registrar will ask to see your original birth certificates or your baptismal certificates. Certified copies may be accepted. You need to provide the full name, residence, and citizenship of your parents or guardians, death certificate of late husband Husband to be the local office will want to see passport and a certificate of legal capacity to contract marriage. An affidavit in lieu of the certificate may also be accepted. You need to check with the local office they will issue an affidavit, I also supplied Birth Certificate and my divorce papers (I think he will have to be there to take an oath for the affidavit.
