    Hi,
I'm new to the forum and have just returned from an amazing holiday to the Philippines.
One of the friends i travelled with had been many times before and had a group of close friends over there who we spent a big part of our holidays with. I got closer with 1 girl in this group of friends and we often spoke about where I am from in the UK and cultural, political and climate differences etc. Turns out she has a great interest in visiting here and after how good a job she did of showing us around the Philippines and looking out for myself and my friends, I would be more than happy to have her stay with me.

That is the backstory, and now is what we need some help with...I know very little of Visas other than they seem to be very difficult to get hold of. I've researched a little about a 6 month Tourist Visa, but not even sure if these are still available? I'm in the fortunate position to be in a stable home of my own and steady employment, What is the best way to go about applying for a Visa to allow my friend to come over and Visit the UK?

Welcome to British Filipino Stu, UK visit visas are a hot topic today, they are not easy to secure, your friend will have to show overwhelming evidence that she will return to the Philippines, that's the number one priority when applying for the visa. A good job, owner of land and strong family ties back home will all help with the application.

    Good luck :)

She is currently employed in a job where she has been for 5 years. And all her family, including younger siblings with whom she shares an apartment are in the Philippines. Is that enough ties?
I don't think she owns any land yet, just a rented apartment.
Also not 100% sure her job will still be open for her after a visit to the UK for a few months, perhaps getting this in writing would be a good help for the application?
Is that enough for "overwhelming" evidence to return after the visit?

It might be. Worth a go at £90 a pop. But sometimes you win, sometimes you lose with that type of visa.

Probably not. She needs to have obligations in the Philippines that she can not escape and compel her to return. For example:
    • Own a business
    • Possess a credit card
    • Own house and lot - even as a co-owner
    • Have dependents who rely on her
Plus she'll need a bank account showing sufficient funds for her travel and stay.
