If your planning doing the touristy stuff while in New York look at getting a New York pass, in my view it’s well worth the money if you intend going to several tourist places.

I've been to New York a couple of times and my only advice would be go up the Rockefeller building not the Empire State. For one you can see the Empire State itself but also its easier and cheaper but just as good....okay, one more thing. Times Square is a waste of time in my opinion as well. Also a little bit aggressive.

It is but good luck getting tickets, and it starts filling up around 2-3 pm.
Went there 5 years ago for new year, great atmosphere but bloody cold to be hanging around for that amount of time.
I couldn’t get tickets for Times Square so ended up couple blocks away but could still see the ball drop.
Was estimated over 500,000 people were in and around Times Square then.

Haha , I thought that also . I need to renew my passport soon , although it’s valid until June . I might not need another ten years .
