She will not have to pay the NHS surcharge unless she is already married and coming to the UK on a spouse visa, the Fiancee visa is only valid for six months so exempt from the new fee. If you come to the UK on the Fiancee visa you will pay the new NHS surcharge on applying for the first FLR(M).

I think you get the £500 top up back if the visa application is declined.

If you're married then you will have to pay I'm afraid, like John says, you will get the money back if the application is declined, but do not think along those lines, be positive :)

it means your hubby has to " exercise his rights" to go and live--and work--in a EEA country --this includes ireland. you then join him there has his wife. after a time period--he returns home to UK--and you apply for the appropriate paperwork to come with him. it depends whether you think thats easier than applying for the usual spouse visa.

I don't know what your husband does for a living but I think most people would struggle to get a job in the Philippines.
It would be best for him to come onto this forum as there will be so many questions he will need answers to and we may be able to help.

I recommend that you stick with plan A young lady, jobs are not easy to come by as you yourself have already stated, UK is better, you know it makes sense :like:

well--thats up to the two of you to decide--either way--it will be a huge life-changing decision.

applying for a settlement visa ( spouse visa )---is straightforward enough---the main thing is to make sure your husband meets the financial requirements---this is where a lot failed when the new rules ( july 2012 ) came into force. you either meet them--or you fail. and waste your money.

Hi. I am a new member and in fact this is my first post.My girlfriend (in Manila) has just been refused a Visitors Visa for the second time in two months. The first time we applied without help, the 2nd I used an agency, which in hindsight I don't think were very good. Please could someone who has used an agency they really like tell me what agency that is? (I am in London). I would really appreciate it.

Visitor Visas are the most difficult and problematic to obtain. Near enough impossible.

Your girfriend has to show compelling evidence that she will return to the Philippines, property, job, family, etc, etc.

    Welcome aboard.!!!!!!!!:welcome:

OK many thx for that, Aromulus. Next time almost surely we will try for the Partner/finance one. But that just points up the need (or I feel the need) for guidance from a really good visa advice agency.

    Hello enrico. Welcome to BF!

If you decided to apply for a partner visa, you might want to start understanding this link https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk
Hiring a visa agent would be convenient for some but not all.

    Good luck.
