Hi all, I have been reading through numerous forum threads the past few months in relation to obtaining a visa to the uk for Filipino girlfriend, however I have not seen anything that is up to date for 2016. To give you all an insight to my situation I am a 25 year old male who has returned to the uk 5 months ago after 3 years in SE Asia and Australia. Whilst working in Thailand i met my Filipino girlfriend and we lived together for near on 2 years, I visited Australia to make some extra cash before returning to Thailand and travelling to meet her family. I returned home to London after we both agreed it is best for our future to start a life here in the UK, on my return I have secured a job that pays over the (18,600) per annum, (a figure I always see relating to visas) and am renting my own place in London. As my girlfriend lives and works as a teacher in Thailand we are in the process of gathering documents to bring her to the uk for a few weeks in October. In all honesty i am at a loose end as to how to make our application as watertight as possible? And what to do if all goes well and then her holiday finished and she returns back to Thailand. We have evidence of numerous holidays together around Thailand, her meeting my family, me meeting hers and the fact we shared a house for 2 years. Proving our relationship is genuine shouldn't be an issue however proving she will return home seems impossible unless she has children, a business so on......I understand this thread is posted numerous times on these forums but I would appreciate any help that directly deals with my situation The fact we haven't seen each other in nearly 6 months is hard enough, let alone the realisation that us both living in the same country anytime soon is a long way off as we speak... Would appreciate any advice or help in helping my girlfriend come to the uk and eventually be with me here full time Thanks in advane
Welcome to the forum Danny1991, there is plenty of stuff on the forum relating to visit visas as it is probably one of the most asked questions on the forum, there are plenty of current threads here and nothing has changed in the last few years regarding obtaining the visa. The visa only costs around £87 and only takes a couple of weeks to get the decision so go for it, you can always go to visit her if the visa application is declined.
"Would appreciate any advice or help in helping my girlfriend come to the uk and eventually be with me here full time" - Propose to her and get married in UK. That's the best way I think. And that's what my bf and I are planning to do.
Marriage would appear to be the way forward without it you are stuck with the lottery of trying to prove a negative ,how long do you want a visit to last? what happens to her work?
If your girlfriend applies for a standard visit visa, she will have to show she has reasons to come back. Burden of proof for this visit visa is on the applicant. She could present a certificate of employment and submit a memo or letter from her employer that her period of absence in work is approved, etc. There are threads in this forum relating to your query, whether it be for settlement or visit visas. Good luck!
last year i got a visit visa for my gf to come here , i basically provided evidence of her job so put in a employment contract, a approval of absence letter from her employers stating when the she leaves work and when she is to return back to work . I'm not quite sure how it works in your case as your gf is a Filipina living and working in Thailand tho, i would also put in something about her accommodation to prove that she got to go back there. i am now going for a two year visit visa with my gf but from what ive seen its pretty much same as the 6 month visit visa. we also want my gf to come here in next few years so we are planning to get married in Philippines and then apply for a spouse visa. go on this link and you can do the application from here https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/home/welcome
i also put a lot of other documents heres the contents page of our application: ⦁ CANDY LOU DE GUZMAN SUPPORTING LETTER ⦁ STEVEN KNOWLES DECLARATION ⦁ CANDY LOU DE GUZMAN APPROVAL OF ABSENCE ⦁ CANDY LOU DE GUZMAN COMPANY CERTIFICATION ⦁ CANDY LOU DE GUZMAN WORK CONTRACT ⦁ LETTER FROM STEVEN'S PARENTS ⦁ SUPPORTING LETTERS FROM CANDY LOU'S FRIENDS ⦁ RETURN TICKET PRICES FROM MANILA TO HEATHROW ⦁ CANDY LOU DE GUZMAN PAY SLIPS ⦁ CANDY LOU DE GUZMAN BANK STATEMENT ⦁ Candy lou contract for franchise ⦁ candy lou business license ⦁ STEVEN KNOWLES PAY SLIPS ⦁ STEVEN KNOWLES BANK STATEMENTS ⦁ STEVEN KNOWLES LETTER MORTGAGE STATEMENT AND UTILITY BILLS ⦁ STEVEN KNOWLES letter FROM EMPLOYER ⦁ STEVEN KNOWLES BIRTH CERTIFICATE ⦁ SCREENSHOTS OF CONTACT FACEBOOK, KAKAO TALK AND SKYPE add photos of you too together aswell i, couldn't as i hadn't met my gf in person at this stage. i don't think you can ever be watertight as such because its down to the entry clearance officers decision on the day, we had a previous application turned down with the same documents submitted. if all goes well then she will get a visa which is valid for 6 months if you choose just the 6 month one , there is 6months 2/3/5/10 year visit visas to choose from, ive now chose the 2 year so if successful my gf can come in and out of the uk for 2 years, but he max stay is 6months at a time.
yeah to be honest timmers ,remember I paid a lawyer to help with first application, well that's everything she told me to put in, so I just copied it haha only thing she did different was write a fancy letter at the start of it as she working on behalf of her client blah blah blah
