    Hi,

On Saturday 26th September my wife and I visited the VISA center in Glasgow - We paid £400 extra for the premium service as we were of the understanding that this would give us a same day decision.

We were told that they had to check on a few things and to verify a few documents and would be in touch Monday or Tuesday - although not ideal we had no option but to accept this, a few days we thought we can live with this.

Today is Thursday and still no phone call nor contact.

I phoned but I was like talking to a brick wall, they could not provide any information AT ALL and told me to sit and wait.

My wife is pregnant so we are eager to have a quick decision on this so we can relax.

Has anyone experienced similar issues like this, and how long did it take?

I understand postal applications can take up to 6 to 8 weeks, but to think we paid for premium service and are still left hanging is shocking.

We would be interested to hear from anyone who has had similar issues with premium service and information on how long it took for you to get a decision?

It does say in the FLR notes that a decision is usually made the same day if you attend one of the premium centres, but it can take longer if they need to make inquires.

Any idea which documents they needed to check?

Hi Timmers thank you, they never mentioned any documents in particular that they had to check.

As you can imagine with my wife being heavily pregnant its something we would like to know sooner than later, i really feel we have been cheated paying such a substantial fee for a service that was not provided.

I hope we hear something tomorrow.

It cannot be anything serious, as you know, you basically submitted the identical documents for the FLR(M) as you did for the initial settlement visa.

As you say, it is something you could well do without especially given your wife's condition.

I hope they get back to you promptly, as in tomorrow.

    Good luck.

It does say this on uk,gov...

Your application may take longer than a day if extra checks are needed. If your application is delayed for other reasons, eg IT problems or a fire evacuation, you may be able to get a refund of the premium service fee.

The premium service is a great option IMO if you have the budget.

It's important to bear in mind that the application needs to be straightforward and fully compliant with no reason to involve the back office caseworkers.

I do hope you'll hear something positive very soon and that this doesn't drag out.

VISA GRANTED FLRM FOR 30 MONTHS, SOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY AND RELIEVED (premier service took 5 days)

Now look forward to the birth of our child on December and our life together.

Thank you to everyone for their help and guidance through this process.

We will stay tuned into this forum.

good news--and best wishes for your future.

it does occur to me though--is it worth paying for premium same day service if the applicant isnt likely to need a work permit any time soon ?

I think for most people including myself its a way of getting the job done on the same day and not having a similar wait to the initial settlement visa.

It is like the settlement visa, it can take up to three months.

interesting---so if the aplpicant came in on a fiancee visa--and got married--say--after 5 months--then applied for FLR--non-premium----would it be an over stay ?

I would say not as they would have the visa decision pending.

Congratulations Mark and Sherey. You can finally set the visa aside.

Having a baby is surely exciting! Will be having ours in January. All the best to you both. :)

Children are one of the biggest joys in life

It's often said that Parents owe their children everything.
    They owe their parents nothing.
