I’m interested to hear from any of our members , who have been successful, in applying for a visit visa for a Filipino partner , accompanied by a young child .

My lady visited me in the Uk this year , and we had a great time . I’m thinking of applying for another visit visa next year , but this time, her bringing her seven year old son with her .

I’m interested to know if anyone has done this successfully, as by bringing him , she has then , maybe (in the thoughts of immigration) removed one of her stronger reasons to return home .

    Thoughts anyone, please ?

Thanks as always Mattecube , for your response .

As you probably remember , we were successful this year in getting a visit visa , and the circumstances are still the same .

My lady will have a certificate of employment, and leave of absence from employer .
Sufficient funds in her bank account , . Evidence of paying utility bills etc .

I’m just wondering , how applying to bring the child with her for a visit , will affect the application, given that he was one of the reasons we gave last time for her to return .

Maybe we just have to apply for the visas and see what happens .
I just thought it would be nice for them both if he could visit also next time.

    Thanks again .

My wife got a marriage visitor visa, visit visa where you are allowed to get married and also applied at the same time for visa for one of her son's. That was sucessful. Did not include the other son at the time as we were having problems getting him a passport. Sure I said in that application that I was not happy leaving him.

After we sorted the passport and got definite visa for wife and younger child we submitted another application for the other son detailing that I remained unhappy about leaving him and had also been told off by both my sister and one of my friends for considering leaving him. Did detail that as all flights were booked might not be possible to bring him but I wanted the option if any issues to bring him at any time during duration of wife's visa. We were successful and had everyone over for a few days short of six months.

In terms of evidence of returning to the philippines for the original application we were not particularly strong in my opinion. Had evidence that I supported her and sons, rental contract (only in wife name) with letter from landlady that we have been renting for some time and good tenants and second son was staying. Also had evidence of plan to get married in UK and evidence of relationship for about two years. I was godfather for youngest which may also have helped.

Also made clear in covering letter that had not yet made long term decision on were to live - Philipines, Ireland or UK. Had one trip to Singapore as evidence of travel outside Philippines and returning.

Second son visa application was supported by same evidence and the return flight tickets for wife and youngest son with dates for return within visa period but obviously less reasons to return as both children were going now. But had clear reason as I was not happy with leaving him so effectively a welfare of child arguement. I was genuinely concerned over leaving him as could come up with large number of scenarios for problems and difficult to manage from other side of world.

Way we did it was not ideal and driven by passport problems. If had all three passports would have done all three applications at the same time. Also booking flights to UK for wife and youngest son before second son visa application was risky as no guarantee would be successful in visa application or that could get him on same flights.

We were successful so should be doable and have addition in your case of partner visiting and returning so you are probably in a better position than we were.

Hi Br28016, thanks for your interesting input , all replies are gratefully received and helpful .

Ours for now , is just for visit visa , and I’m wondering if bringing the gf’s
little boy will take any strength away from the application.

I suppose it’s possible , if it’s two applications, that one might be approved and one not?

Maybe we just need to apply , and see what happens .

Could do what we did. Get partner visa three months in advance and then do follow up for child once have visa and flight booked. Reduces risk of failure and still have opportunity to get both.

Visitor visas are supposed to be done quickly so have sufficient time to do a follow up visa application if first one is sucessful.

Only thing I would do is put in something in first application that means there is a reason for follow up application. If you want I can see if I have a record of what we put in covering letters for the first application to cover the second application.

I think in follow up I used a supporting letter from one of my friends who knew the other son and had told me off for considering leaving the other son.

Child visa details who he is traveling with so if put both applications in together he should fail to get visa if your wife fails.

I didn't regret doing it and think it was valuable although 5 year old ended up out of school for a year which was not great but counterside is that spoken English is lot better for the six months which is valuable as plan now is move to UK for all three.
