I have friends in Saskatchewan, my wife has friends in Vancouver, so i guess its safe to say we will be travelling around Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC but much as i would like to say asap the Covid situation elsewhere will likely dictate when, me i would go tomorrow if it was possible. :D

Im hearing parts of Canada apparently not coping to well with Covid at the moment mainly Quebec, i hope the government can get a grip otherwise that might see Canada off my to do list for this year :(.

So on seeing todays news from Boris, the only overseas Holidays allowed are to Green list countries, Amber listed countries can only be visited in an emergency situation such as urgent business reason or pressing family needs, then Red list is a no no, its looking more and more like nowt abroad for this year.

Technically you are incorrect on the Amber.
UK gov is asking you not to holiday in Amber countries but at present it is not illegal to do so! See link below

Maybe at present it may look that way but look at trends and vaccination rates will look better July and August.
We are going to France and Spain inAugust

I know I am a constant downer here but the vaccination rate that matters is the numbers in the target country which anyone plans to visit, and at the month before they travel as later vaccinations don't take effect for a month, so for France in July it's their proportion of first vaccines delivered into arms up to end of May basically, August would depend on their progress up to end of June.

This is relevant from the UK Government's side, countries will come off the Amber list as their local proportions of the vaccinated increase, that will be the likely driving factor in UK public announcements.

Our unvaccinated people visiting other countries dilutes the progress of those other countries towards vaccine herd immunity for the period of time that they are there, and of course it's not just us Brits travelling there will be lots more unvaccinated people coming in as tourists from elsewhere too.

It looks like travel to Germany has been quashed...to prevent Brits bringing the Indian variant into Germany. It’s not over til the fat lady sings.

Yes this was announced all over the press today, but we are not going to Germany so who cares!
    On a lighter note,
Are you suggesting Ms Merkel is fat? I doubt I want to hear her sing but she can for 3 months, the good thing for us is we have a flexable ferry ticket and have no need to book anything else.
France and Spain happy to have us Brits although at present they continue to be on the UK amber list, so should avoid unnecessary travel there but not a legal you must not go!

The move comes after Spain lifted travel restrictions on British visitors, with the country’s prime minister Pedro Sanchez saying Spain will be “delighted, extremely delighted” to receive British tourists again.

Spain is lifting its restrictions on travellers from the United Kingdom beginning on Monday.
