Hi folks, a quicky- the wife has a cousin who wants to visit. Obviously we will sponsor in terms of accommodation but I am not going to state that I will financial fund the trip. Therefore, I am aware she will have to provide bank statements and adequate funding to cover her visit. No where gives a set figure on what Immigration would accept as an adequate amount of funds. Does anyone have any experience or idea on what sort of funds someone would have to have for a one month trip to UK with accommodation provided ? I have sort of said to her that around £100 per week might do it ?
They will look at, food, accommodation, travel, social ie sightseeing costs and work it from there. In your case you are going to accomadate and feed her? Will you provide transport for days out etc? £ 100 is probably ok if you are going to cover all three? But you need to detail what you will cover as sponsor.
It’s a sticky one. I’m happy to say that we will accommodate, feed and obviously look after her for the month, but I don’t want to be giving bank statements, details of income and savings as I know these details will end up being discussed with other family members and then the obvious happens ! If I could submit those details direct to VFS myself then I’d be happy but I’m not passing to the wife’s cousin !
The application process is password protected so you could keep the confidentiality of your finances by uploading the documents and keeping the password to yourself You would have to do the application yourself on behalf of your cousin, tick the box though that she is doing it At biometrics she could present her finances just hers Plus a note endorsed by yourself for your cousin to present plus on the notes in the application that you are sponsoring her accommodation food etc and the sponsors confidential financial position can be found in the scanned documents on the system. You may wish to endorse the application that you don’t want your financial position to be the topic of wider family discussion ( and there is nothing wrong with this stance)
Thanks Mattecube - we are trying to subtly tell her that although she is welcome to visit, and she will be well catered for, it’s not a given free, all expenses paid holiday. If this impression gets out then half of Manila will be rocking up at Heathrow !!
