We sent money to my wife's family today as I was finally off work. Western Union waived their commission. My wife's mother will distribute as she sees fit, as she always does in her close knit community.
Nice to see some compassion given the sheer scale of this catastrophic event. That said, it also makes good business sense considering how many Filipinos send money home. They will appreciate any act such as this one.
I just signed up to weston and they want 14.40 from 400 gbp money transfer fees so whats waived?? ah entered the promo code and 0 fees 400 is the max though
They waived the commission for my wife yesterday, Keith? She has used them many times. Maybe this is the reason?
Looks good! I have sent cash already before this offer, but I remember there is a place to enter a promo code. Even better. Keith, try again. Are you using the Western Union UK site?
I think WU usually waive their fees for such disasters and often have a slightly better exchange rate than World Remit so can be cheaper at such times.
Surprised about the exchange rate, but for today at least you are correct, I will check this on an ongoing basis, today WU would be better than WorldRemit but if the usual charges were applied for say a 100 pound transfer then even after the exchange rate differences today WorldRemit would pay out the same as WU 7001.50 peso for roughly £2.74 less overall than WU. Today WU is free of charge and the exchange rate seems pretty good, they would indeed be cheaper than WorldRemit, for today.
guys i did get 0 commision last sentence in my post hade to put promo code in and its good till 30th november
