Having finished up in Aberdeen I decided to drive south via the A1 and Newcastle as opposed to via M74 and M6 and Carlisle etc as I thought the roads would be clearer on the eastern side of the country. And although they were indeed clearer it was a foul journey all the same. Drove back through Edinburgh which was as grey as when we went up last week. I clocked the Island of Lindisfarne en route as it has connections with the old group, geological significance and religious connatations.

Anyhow, I have never seen the Angel of the North in the flesh and having spotted it on our journey in the Tyne area, through the fog LOL, it was a must do opportunity for me and the Mrs to grab a photo. But it was so cold out that we simply could not spend anymore than 5 minutes outside getting a picky.

I had intended treating my wife to some Whitby Jet jewelry as I notice that jet black suits her skin tone and hair really well. But was dissuaded by the cold and the need to press on our way.

On the way our "local" T Mobile sim gave up the ghost as when I am in the UK I am roaming (my network at home has to be a Manx one). I use my iPad for navigaying, you see. Eventually arrived in Hull where we anchored down for the night (Hull ain't too impressive eh?), after visiting my wifes Pinay friend in Lincolnshire. She treated us to bangers and mash.

Interestingly the wife's friend is organising her 65 y.o. mom to come over on a family or visit visa. Should be interesting to see if the application is succesful.

Anyhow, am in Manchester now and ate out in the Trafford Centre at a place called Rice (alas no Pinoy dishes on the menu) which specialises in mainly south east asian food.

I will be treating the wife to either Corras in Ashton or the Pinoy restaurant in Bolton tomorrow, hopefully.
