My Mum used to make lovely (battered) spam fritters, great served with Heinz baked beans. I far prefer corned beef to spam though.
OK - honestly now - is there anyone, married to, or for that matter living in sin with, a Filipina or a Filipino who does not have a couple of cans of Spam in a kitchen cupboard? No. Didn't think so. Spam has a special place in the hearts of any nation that was liberated by the Americans. It is the ultimate "comfort food" for Koreans and for Filipinos. With a dish containing Spam in front of you, you feel safe. And that's important.
We certainly did! In fact it is no longer made at all in the UK; any Spam that you see on a supermarket shelf is imported! (Yes, I am now thinking of Spam fritters...)
When my Missus gets the urge to partake of this delicacy I usually opt for some of that "raw" smoked salmon that she doesnt like lol
