So from what I read in regards to financial requirements to bring spouse to UK, the financial requirement is 18,600 or 22,400 to bring both spouse and baby.

Here on page 31 - number 128 it states that:

    https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/257359/soi-fam-mig.pdf

The Immigration Rules will provide or reflect that:

A British citizen child is not subject to immigration control and is not therefore subject
to the financial requirement (income threshold). Where one parent is a British citizen
and the other parent is a migrant and the child is a British citizen, the financial
requirement (income threshold) will apply to the migrant parent, but not the child.

So if I'm correct the financial requirement is still 18.600?

Forgot to add, that will be if baby is registered as British and holds a British passport, then it should be 18,600?

You are correct, if your child is British then they have the same rights as the rest of us, you only have to meet the £18,600 requirement, every little helps :)

So how do I set about getting British passport for my child in the Philippines? Can I do this in UK even if my child is in the Philippines? or I have to do it in the Philippines? What evidence will I need to provide, documents etc etc?

One of my daughter was born in Thailand so we applied for her passport in British Embassy in Bangkok. A very straight forward process. We provide her birth Certificate, My husband's full length Birth Certificate and Passport.
Our daughter's Passport Photos and application form.
We got the passport in 2 weeks time.

yeah I think the process in Philippines is different to that in Thailand. before I think you could apply at the British Embassy in Manila, but I think now it's done in the UK itself?

That's why I'm trying to find out if anyone else that's applied for a passport for their child and how the procedure is done?

We hear stories of them being processed in Liverpool and taking a good many months?

Liverpool, damn. So I'm guessing to apply for child passport it will have to be all done on line? Then it's just a matter of sending all required documents and proof via recorded delivery from Pinas to Liverpool?

I am not 100% on this. See what the others say.

When the Foreign Office issued Passports, applications from the Philippines were processed in Hong Kong and the return courtier fee was added to the cost of the Passport. Applications have still to be made through the Manila Embassy and they do indeed still pass through the former outpost of the FCO's Passport Office from where they're consigned to the Liverpool office and sit in piles collecting dust for months on end. And for the privilege, we have to pay an additional return courier fee - HK to UK and back.

The last I heard, it was taking 10 months or so waiting for the passport for the Philippines-born British child...processed through Liverpool. So very advanced planning required.

My agent did it as I first applied for a visa like my wife and they came back and said just pay the fee for a passport and they put the visa in which stated right to abode. Sorry I did not really answer your question but that's all I know. I know I know dumb old gorilla
