My wife had the TB test today and passed that but foundt a problem with her heart and needs to go in hospital for checks, so looks like its going to be longer before can apply her visa, they wanted to keep her there.

Can only offer best wishes and hope for a good outcome. Heart disease is common in Filipinos - very high salt content in the national diet.

Best of luck. hope it's nothing serious.

You've got to watch those hospitals though - particularly if they get wind of a foreign husband. They'll do a lot more thn neccesary to up the bill.

My sister in law has a German husband, and they had a baby in the Philippines. She ended up with 4 mid wives, a suite, and being kept in for a few days "to ensure the baby is ok". Her husband was not impressed.

Yes might be worth a "second opinion" from elsewhere.

Thanks for the well wishes, they wanted her to go back for the next 3 days but looks like she has breathing problems and could be COPD, so not has bad as first thought, think they justed scared her by saying you can not have contact with your son and things like that.

If I was you I'd press on with the visa application, goes without saying she will more likely than not receive better treatment in the UK for her new found condition (free too remember).

My wife has a history of high blood pressure, our local GP sent her for a kidney scan and found she needs her gall bladder removing, just waiting now for the operation date.

I hope everything works out and that her condition is not too serious.

They would not give her the tb cert Timmers, they want her have sputum tests for the next 3 mornings, my wife asked if could get the tb cert and have check up in uk but told her they are not allowed to give her, has when in uk they would get in trouble for giving her tb cert.

Sorry to hear that @deanobeano and the immigration fees rise by 25% soon, so it looks like even more expense.

I didn't know about that Howerd, they really do have us over a barrel, we will just have to grin and bear it :(

The UK Government knows we will pay the fees whatever the cost, I do not believe the day will come when we hear of someone not bringing their loved one to the UK because of the cost.

Amongst a great many other important reasons which I won't go into here somewhere down the list that is one of my reasons, but I stress many other things push me that way before we get to the money.

From a financial standpoint the visa cost is high and I find it difficult to comprehend how the Government can justify their fees, my personal opinion is that the Government would like to keep a certain minority out of the country and our beloved Filipinos are caught up in that by virtue of having to use the same visa process.

You mentioned "other reasons" and that got me thinking, looking back I never put much thought into bringing my wife to the UK and how it would transform my life, I am lucky that everything has worked out fine. I found that once I got caught up in the visa process I was blinkered to everything else and never gave enough thought to things like how she would adjust to the UK and so on, once again I'm lucky, she has taken to the UK like a duck to water.

You're a wise man to think the way you do, there is more to bringing a Filipina to the UK than first meets the eye, finances are one thing of course, many things to be mulled over, how it will change your/their lives, the good and the not so good.

There was a window of opportunity about 5 or 6 years ago but our legal problems in the Philippines were nowhere near solved then, time marches on and the best outcome for all concerned changes, best circumstance within our means, for my children, my partner and me have changed and some avenues are closed or closing, she does not see it that way though :(

i mentioned in another thread--my fiancee was found to have scoliosis when she had her tb screening last april. she also had TB--which responded 100% to treatment--which finally meant the certificate was issued early december.

I look at it like this, you have two lovely kids together meaning you will always be in contact with each other for the rest of your lives, who knows what the future holds for you as a family, "never say never", you may all get together again one day, stranger things have happened.

Luckily Reichelle got her TB certificate, can I ask did you do anything about the scoliosis?
