The sentence I found somewhat strange in this report.........

Initially, Mr Berg said he didn't know they were police or why Eaton was there.

"I thought it was some kind of robbery."

How can he have this guy Eaton in his room and not know why he was there?
    Am I missing something?

Yes, I read it that Eaton was in the street at the alleged buy bust!

Suspected Dutch pedophile given 'cardboard justice'

A DUTCHMAN suspected to be a pedophile was shot dead by two unidentified men riding-in-tandem Monday evening, October 10, at Purok 2, Punta Silum, Manticao town, Misamis Oriental.

Authorities identified the Dutchman as Robertus Carolus Maria Van Der Ploeg, 59, who arrived in Manticao town about a week ago.

Investigators said Van Der Ploeg sustained two gunshot wounds in the head from a .45 caliber pistol and a cardboard with the words "Pedopilya at adik ako" was found beside him.

A sachet of marijuana was also found among the victim’s possessions as well as Van Der Ploeg’s mobile phone which, police investigators said, contained videos of him having sexual activities with girls who appeared to be minors.

Emma Ambaic, owner of the house where the Dutchman was temporarily staying, said Van Der Ploeg had come to the country to meet his chat mate, a high school student who was a friend of her 17-year-old daughter.

Ambaic said Van Der Ploeg was able to find their residence through the address listed in her daughter’s Facebook profile.

Ambaic explained that her daughter had allowed her friend to use her account to chat with Van Der Ploeg.

But Van Der Ploeg, Ambaic said, preferred her daughter over her friend, adding that the Dutchman even attempted to convince her daughter to marry him.

"Gusto niya pangasaw-on dayon akong anak kay mas nakagusto siya niya. Akong anak di jud gusto kay wala pud silay relasyun ug menor de edad pa sya,” Ambaic said.

Ambaic said her daughter told Van Der Ploeg that her parents might face legal trouble if they forced their under-aged daughter to marry, prompting the Dutchman to give up on her.

Ambaic said the Dutchman demanded to be paid P45,000.

“Pa bayron daw me ug P45,000 sa iyang na gasto nga wa man gani mi na dawat bisan singko sentabos,” Ambaic said.

For his part, Julieto Ambaic, Emma's husband, said Van Der Ploeg mostly stayed at the ground floor of their house, looking at photos of under-aged girls and sex videos on his laptop.

"Demanding kaayo sya kay magpaluto siya ra pud mo kaon. Kada adlaw adto siya sa Iligan mouli gabii na. Gi-report namo sa barangay captain ug sa dihang amo na untang i-report sa police pagka-ugma, pag-abot niya 7:00 sa gabii, duha ka buto among na bati ug mao nalay nakita namo patay na sya nag buy-od sa gawas," Julieto Ambaic said.

Manticao Police Senior Inspector Enrique Bilaca-ol Jr. said Van Der Ploeg’s possessions, including a bag full of panties, will be brought to the Philippine National Police crime laboratory in Cagayan de Oro City.

Bilaca-ol said investigators will look into the Dutchman’s contacts in the country and investigate if the latter had violated the country’s laws.

It would seem that the late Mr Van der Ploeg may have been a somewhat unsavoury character.

I read it that Eaton accompanied the police when they raided Mr Berg's room.

Mr Berg can count himself lucky that he is still alive - and was fortunate that CCTV footage proved his innocence (because people now seem to be guilty unless proven otherwise).

Yes; that is also how I read it - I have been assuming that Eaton was working for the police in trying to entrap Berg.

The vagrants your referring to are lumads, your at no risk from them, they aren't vagrants as you term them, that's quite amusing :D I have walked past hundreds of them many times, stopped and chatted to a few, decent people :like:
