We are thinking of looking at getting a work visa for Mica as the quickest way of getting her into the U.K. ?Has anyone had any experience of the process and the difficulties / mistakes to watch out for?

I don't know about work visas other than a friend from Pinas who now works here as a Nurse. He had to negotiate an English test (I think IELTS 7.5) and he was prioritised as he is on the list of required professions. If potential employees aren't on that list then getting here may be difficult.

I don't know the ins and outs Max but I do know it wont be easy, the easiest way for a worker coming into the UK is usually via a company that will sponsor them.

Do a bit of research and tell us how you get on.

If he works on an industry that has shortage it should be easy to get a visa.

I am in the finance/acctg industry and i've tried to ask my former employer in dubai if its possible for a transfer in UK. They said it will be difficult since acctg/finance isnt in the shortage list and im not on a senior managerial level as well.

Looked into it this and you need to get to 70 points which might be possible but it's not a targeted industry so not so sure.

We looked at the points system too and the wife could not make the total of points required. Like @Maley wife looked at transferring from Dubai to London (Canary Wharf) but when she was told her visa would tie her to the job/location I told her not to follow up as I had no intention living in London or anywhere near it.

For me I was looking at alternate ways of getting the wife here to the UK because I felt I was being forced into marriage by the visa system.

I think the regular settlement visa route may be the only option, it will not take that much time if you get your act together.
