Once the air is not in contact with the produce then it will last far longer just in the ref.
Believe it or not but these can actually be used to age and tenderize cheaper steak cuts.
If you make a large pot of curry (or whatever),put it in portions, vacuum pack them, freeze or refrigerate.

When I was in Mexico last year I cooked myself a big pot of chili con carne, I confess I based it on a packet mix from the UK.

As usual I left the pan standing on the stovetop, serving it up with sour cream and raw onions when I felt hungry. I have never had problems doing this before, but on day three it turned a strange grey-green colour and seemed to double in size within a few hours.

I can`t find the exact recipe on my HD..
The recipe below looks similar although I doubt that I added that much sugar.

Turned some of these ingredients I posted earlier above into this Chinese Chicken Fried rice dish tonight, nice batch of six meals for next to nothing.

(less than 360 calories per portion calculated on the total ingredients used divided by 6 meals)

Same thing applies to Prawns, they are basically insects, but they are remarkably nice :)

Jumping salad, much favoured by Thai people.

Put live shrimps into a pot of spicy herbs and chilli, shake it around, then eat them live. Not surprisingly the shrimps try to jump out and escape.

Seen it being done, but I stuck to drinking my beer!

Must be hell for the shrimps...

Apart from the Thai people eating jumping salad, someone told me oysters are the only things we eat that are alive.
I can't think of anything else.....

Plants and fruits Mike, technically still alive as many could probably reproduce as cuttings and fruits are the means for many to reproduce.

    Sorry, I know, I am being picky ;) :)
