    hi everyone,
New to the forum, I've been reading many of these threads and it's making my head spin, I've a Filipino girlfriend (who I intend to marry) and a 4 month old baby girl, we've been together nearly 2 years, I've been out to Manila 4 times and the next step is for them to come here, where do I start, the visa is £350, will my daughter need one to, do I apply even though my baby doesn't have a passport yet? How long will the whole process take and what are the odds of the application being successful, any advice would be appreciated.

For a spouse or fiance visa it will cost you a good bit more than that.

Welcome here Scott, your daughter is British, she won't need a visa but the bad news is you will have to prove all of that :(

The Spouse Visa for your partner after you marry is going to be much more expensive and is a process that while the early bits may not take so long to complete after you are married the rest is a multi year process and will not be cheap, sorry.

But like me, rest assured your wee girl is a British citizen, but you need to do the work to get her registered and get a Consular birth registration from the British Embassy over there, if they have doubt about paternity they will demand a DNA test and that is not cheap.

Is your name on your daughters Philippine birth certificate?

    Hi Scott welcome to BF.
As others said you can start your daughter process now as there is a long Q.
If you are getting married soon then best is to apply for a spouse visa after you get married.

Not sure but that could be a potential problem, it was made very clear to me that without a marriage to their mother my kids could not take my surname on the NSO birth certificate, such a registration might be considered invalid. My name and occupation are on both of my kids NSO birth certificates, but the kids had to take the standard form of mothers middle name and surname as their middle name and surname.

Do a consular birth registration at the British Embassy over there as soon as you possibly can, they prefer it to be within the first year, you should collect all hospital records and bills and as much information as you can to show proof of relationship but honestly, you are in the same position I was and they demanded a DNA test for my daughter, the test must be performed by a lab on the list of labs approved by the British Embassy, you will have to phone them for that information, the forensic lab at UP Diliman biology department was where we got tested, the original address has changed I believe so best to ask our Embassy over there who they will trust for a test and where it is.

In 2008 the test was not cheap cost me nearly 1000 pounds but it was well worth it.

I would think it would be about the same or cheaper now, three way test, mother, father, child.
