Young children shouldn't have best friends

    "A head teacher of a leading primary school has said young children should not have best friends because it could leave others feeling ostracised and hurt." So begins a story published today on the BBC News site.

    Oh dear. What kind of retarded thinking is that? Next thing you know, these intellectual 'giants' will be telling us we shouldn't have monogamous marriages for exactly the same reasons. Political correctness gone completely insane.

    I rather think she will, Mike. If I had a child attending that school, last Friday would have been his/her last day there!

    Probably not, Andrew, since that also means ostracism - both of the "enemy" and those not selected to be enemies!

    We have gut feelings and not having "bessie mates" is just plain wrong.
