You don't need the birth certificate of your wife. Even if you need it, you need that translated as all documents submitted should be in English.

    Hi Arnold.

You'll also need a TB test certificate .

Make sure you submit your wifes up to date bank statements and payslips. Theres a '30 day rule' from the date they are from - to the date when you book your appearance.

Are the bank statements originals that were posted to your wife from the bank or from an online account and printed by herself ? If she printed them off herself they'll need stamping as authentic by her bank.
You'll also need to submit a letter from your wife's employers stating her annual salary, starting date at that company and how long she's been receiving the salary that she's on now.

There's a heck of a lot to submit mate and it costs a lot of money for the application so to be absolutely sure I'd reccomend both you and your wife have a good read of the various posts on here and gather as much info as you can. I found this site invaluable during my wifes application . Good Luck. It'll all be worth it in the end.

I'd also like to flag this again as I'm pondering the same. I can switch to paper statements but may not get the last dated month in time before I need to courier - NatWest will print them for me with their logo in big font which you don't get if you print the statements yourself, so they're "original" but they don't stamp/sign the printout... any thoughts welcome!

On my understanding if they are on the official bank letterhead you don't need them stamped and signed as that shows it came from the bank originally. But if you print it online you will need to get it stamped and signed with your bank.

Thanks again Brom, think I better see the bank this week just to check so I'm not rushing last minute!

we are paperless statements I asked the Nationwide to supply copies of six months of statements they also provided a letter headed note signed and dated to say my account was paperless and that they were true copies of the previous 6 months.

Just bear in mind that a lot of banks/branches will not stamp your online statements for you, I found this out to my cost and it delayed our application by a couple of weeks.

If you have time it may be a good idea to order 6 months of copy statements as I ended up doing.

The thing is, its one of those where you could ring your local bank and they will say they will stamp them and when you get there they wont :)

Cheers Timmers, that does ring bells to be honest - I did a 'trial run' before the trip to get the marriage licence, called the bank - "yeah no problem just call into branch and we'll stamp it" - go to the branch and the lady said they don't stamp etc. :frust: but when they print the statements it looks different with the big logo, so it's authentic. I can't see how I can expect an ECO in Manila to know that...! :erm:
I'm wondering how people managed to order the statements, wait the x number of day to get them, then courier them to Phils to be received and put into the documents pack, all within the 28 days limit, just feels quite tight to me.

as long as they are 28 days prior to hitting the submit on the application you will be fine

:like: yeah just seems you have to move pretty quickly. I guess it's still 4 weeks, just don't trust my bank to get me the statements quickly!

Mine took about a week, obviously that will vary from bank to bank, just emphasise the importance when you order them.

Hi everyone! Just logged in after a year (I can't believe it) of living in the UK. Buzz me if you still have any questions about this. Hoever, I imagine some rules might have changed since we applied last year?

    Cheers :like:
