Pay the IHS first then get the code in your email, then pay for the visa you will need your IHS code to complete your payment, then you should receive it in your email your recipe as proof of payment along with your appointment and times.

we took recent photos with us to Croydon UKVI---but they were rejected--and told to use the photobooth there. £5. nice little earner for someone!

The clerk said it didn't look much like my wife !! I think they got a back hander from the photo booth operation.

Just had successful 1st FLR(M) using online application process combined with premium service.

The online version is different to the paper application.
1st part is questions about how you will cope if application is not successful! Not a great confidence builder...
The rest is fairly straight forward and depending on your own circumstances will direct you through parts that would need to be answered and avoid unnecessary parts. The completed application in our instance was just 15 pages + signed decleration forms.
There is also a checklist which lists all paperwork needed and records payment of application and IHS.
You must remember to print all and tick and sign as necessary.

YOU MUST GIVE REASON FOR WANTING TO LIVE IN THE UK in the application form.

Additional info supplied was proof of adequate accommodation (this wasn't listed on the checklist).
If not supplied, I've no idea if application may have failed?

Ensure copies of documents are surrendered with originals.

As previously mentioned when applying for 1st visa, the orignal IELTS General Training cert (July 2014) was accepted.
This proves the A1 Cert for spouse visa is a waste of money, where as having an approved english language test result that is higher saves having to take further test if the result is better than A1.
As the score is equivalent to B1 will still use for future ILR and UK Citizernship, as long as the required level doesn't increase in the meantime?

Since spouse british passport and copies were surrendered they didn't want UK Spouse birth cert (actually removed), since passport was sufficient.

    Premium service was at Cardiff

Application + copies were handed over (UK Birth Cert was removed and handed back)
    1st BRP details were taken.
Successful application letter was handed over with All originals.

Time spent in Home Office Cardiff 4Hrs, was given opportunity to leave and visit elsewhere if ensured would be contactable by mobile phone. No interviews were necessary for our application.

Was informed that future ILR BRP would require photo renewal every 10yrs (same as driver licence photo id cards).
So if choose to apply for UK Citizernship the ILR BRP will be history, one less thing to do every 10yrs.

THE ONLINE PROCESS DOES HAVE A GLITCH between VISA APPLICATION and IHS
When you are redirected outside of application to IHS payment, it states the page is not for online application. Ignore, just carry on. Once paid you will be redirected to visa application.
