Hiya Timmers! Did your beloved missus have to wait for the BRP before contacting the Jobcentre for National Insurance number application?

Yes she got the BRP first Anne as the BRP states on the front that you are permitted to work in the UK, then she made an appointment via the local Jobcentre to go to a Jobcentre that specifically deals with issuing National Insurance numbers which was miles away from home. After having the NI interview she was given a letter to give to prospective employers showing she had the right to work in the UK. The letter is given because it takes a few weeks to get the NI number in the post.

She has been working for a couple of months now earning very good money so we are both as happy as Larry :D

If you are living in the UK for less than 2 years, it's okay not to provide all 6.

The best letters to submit are letters from the council regarding council tax, any letters from the HMRC especially P60 (tax office), the doctors surgery and the bank, and like us you could apply for store loyalty cards just to get anything with your names on. Like us you probably have not lived together long enough to accrue a lot of letters especially from official Government sources. Any letters from the Registry Office or church where you got married are good too.

And to answer your question, the letters do need to come from different sources.

I'm sure they will understand if you cannot provide all of what is required but try your best. Use any empty pages on the application form to explain why you cannot submit the required amount of correspondence. We had only been married for four days before attending the FLR premium service.

Remember you need letters addressed to both of you too at your present address.

Remember you have over two weeks before your FLR appointment so you still have some time to prompt more letters if you can.
