oh--i missed that. It just seems like a hell of a lot of hoops if the object was the British pipe dream.

My first sign up actually got rejected, I thought i made a mistake, turns out to be bot infestation then :D
This forum looked like a gold mine of info to me when I first read on, I am a very private person (Im not on social media) but now I feel confident after posting and sharing, thanks i will continue to update as i mentioned, just in case someone out there might go throught the same thing as me. I didnt even know i could claim citizenship by descent until i saw a youtuber mention how she became british, and reading back posts from knightsrike inspired me it can be done, thats why i hit the submit button on my online application :)

Being real though, PH is a beautiful country with lots of great people but it still is 3rd world and facilities/benefits are 3rd world as well. Being my father's daughter certainly wasn't easy but it is a gift that I could open better doors for myself and my children by acquiring a British passport and be with my mother who needs better healthcare than what is available here in Ph.

Though I would never forget my roots here and it would always be home... And I'm getting ahead of myself again  ..now back to that DNA test lab hunting :ninja:

Sorry about that, were you possibly using a VPN connection when you first signed up?

If the IP address of the signup is in Russia, China, South America, Africa or anywhere unlikely, that combined with a strange looking email address is enough for us to reject a signup, we have to guess but the vast majority are obvious bots.

One thing you need to be aware of is that even if you are granted citizenship by descent, your children won't qualify as I am guessing they were born in the Philippines, you can't pass on your citizenship I'm afraid unless the children were born in the UK to a person who is a British Citizen by descent, it only goes one generation deep.

I love your country and its people but I agree with your assessment.

Yes, I am aware. It was very clear on the ukgov website. Since my children are still very young, it would be the best time to relocate. We are anticipating family visa after this, which is a bigger nightmare I expect.

My father wants to retire in PH and I understand that his UK pension would go a long way here but my mom needs me in UK so we are going through the eye of the needle for her. I also want to meet family on my father side in the UK, I have half sisters and nieces nephews, aunt/uncle, the entire lot. There are a lot of reasons why I consider this to be worth it :) My husband's family is also over in NZ, so if we eventually get a British passport it would be easier for us to visit them too. We are quite excited really. Hope your Philippine settlement will be sorted out soon and be with your kids.

A ton of good reasons to come here.

Yeah you would have to pursue further visa's for the family but your citizenship would give you an anchor in the UK.

I currently rent the place my kids live in, I will end up just doing ongoing visa extensions at the BI when I finally retire, I could look at an SRRV visa but you have to lock up a lot of cash for very little return, I'm on the countdown now 2 to 3 years and I should be there.

No VPN. Maybe because I used my spammy email address and it seems random :geek: Good job on moderating here though, and it's free here too. I went on a different forum and it had a donation which I happily paid for £1, but there is much more info here. Maybe they use the donation to discourage the bots?

Renewing visas doesn't cost so much in Ph, that is an ok plan already. Aliens are actually encouraged to retire here, my dad wants to stay in dumaguete City, my husband's home town. I'm guessing you will be based somehwere in Luzon? I might be going off topic now, maybe time to explore the other threads :)

We are in Metro Manila, one of the southern cities, don't worry we are not renowned for staying on topic here :D

I dont know how you stand as regards your kids--i imagine they will need settlement visas once you are living in the UK--so expect hefty costs and a prolonged separation.

Potential for citizenship through registration although think need in country first and not an area I'm that familiar with. Know couple with wife on spouse visa and son born overseas.

Husband had British by descent status and overseas citizenship which son had as well. They managed to register the child as British although as I understood it had to bring son in on other citizenship which allowed entry for six months and then do registration when in UK

Read it and understand how the couple I know qualified as I'm pretty sure the husband had spent more than three years in UK before birth of child. Not so sure if original poster would be able to qualify

Nor I because she was not British by descent when child(ren) born unless applied retrospectively.

Thank you for all your thoughts and advice. As i say, i might be getting abit ahead of myself and over thinking. Just trying to get past the citizen by descent for now :) and trying to stay positive. Lots of options open to a british passport, not just the UK, I have my reasons for going through it. We shall see and yes I have also come across this legislation on my bedtime readings. Will put a mental pin on this one for referrence in the future, salamat.

Almost 7months of waiting but no news yet from UKVI. They havent refunded me the ceremony fee so it must mean they are taking their sweet time to decide. Any idea if this would probably take me years for a decision and if there is anything i can do to speed up the process? Their website mentioned 6months..

btw, biometrics were taken in sept 2021 and i received email that my application is for assigning to a case officer last year November

Ok so, i received an email from UKVI complaint team and this is what is said:

“ Thank you for email correspondence of 5 March to the UK Visas and Immigration Complaints Team where you have raised a complaint about a delay in a decision being made on your application for naturalisation as a British citizen.

In some instances, the business area concerned has already taken steps to rectify the issue whilst a complaint is pending.

As such, whilst considering your complaint, I can confirm that action has already been taken to resolve the matter you have complained about. Our records show that your application was concluded on 16 March and that your ceremony was approved, and a decision letter was issued to you on 23 March.

I can also confirm that your passport was returned to you on 17 March, via International Tracking, Number:

In view of the above, your complaint has been closed.”

When it said ceremony was approved, does this mean I got the citizenship?

No not yet, this is ukvi’s reply to my complaint that i emailed. I am still waiting for the decision letter.
Was hoping for another set of eyes to read if I am interpreting it correctly when it said ceremony was approved.

reread the reply I would say yes the citizenship has been approved based on their comment "ceremony was approved" they state a decision letter was sent on the 23rd of this month so you should get that very soon! Once you have that you will be able to use the reference number on there to book a ceremony and move forward.Your passport and decision letter will arrive separately.
