Its game on. The Ins v the Outs :D

"Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage are to go head-to-head on BBC television in a debate on Britain's future in Europe.

The hour-long debate will be shown on BBC2 from 7pm on Wednesday, 2 April, and will be hosted by David Dimbleby.

Mr Clegg's Liberal Democrats are the most pro-EU of the main parties at Westminster, while Mr Farage's UKIP advocates withdrawing from the EU.

They have been involved in a growing spat over the issue, ahead of May's European elections.

Last month, Mr Farage accepted Mr Clegg's invitation to a televised "open debate" on whether the UK should stay in the EU."

That would be very interesting to watch, never mind the entertainment factor, as I am sure, Cleggy may have tried to bite more than he can chew...
Young Nicky doesn't really realize yet, that he has been very cleverly "Tangoed" into that position.

    Game on.......

And yet, my impression was that it was on the stage under similar circumstances, that Clegg first came to prominence when he took on Cameron and Brown.

Hopefully the debate, that Farage refers to, will get a good airing for the public to make a better and more informed choice. or it might just turn into a bun fight. :D

I don't think Cleggy did himself any favours when he took on the other two clowns to a televised debate.

But now, trying to get some credibility by attempting to discredit Farage and his take on Europe, he will get a mauling of legendary epic proportions.

You seem to imply that Farage has some credibility to lose.

I thought it changed the whole 2010 election dynamic.

In a strange sort of way, it did.
But not to the extent one is led to believe.

Strangely enough, to me and some colleagues watching live, it seemed that the level of unpreparedness shown by all was abysmal, with only Cameron edging slightly ahead.
Brown did bury himself in his own rethoric and Cleggy was only there for maximum exposure, as no bugger knew who the hell he was until then...

Why are the Tories not involved in the debate?

They don't want to face Farrage, he is picking off their core supporters.

I thought this was a good slant. But look what Nige is threatening....

UKIP 'has cleansed' Tories, says MP Robert Halfon

    Robert Halfon:

"The UK Independence Party has done the Conservatives an "enormous favour" by "cleansing" the Tories of members with views it finds distasteful, a Tory MP has claimed."

    Nige:

"As we approach the next general election we will also consider whether to add Harlow to our target seat list given the positive response of people in the town to our message."

    And then again from Halfon..

"Mr Halfon, MP for Harlow, said: "To me there are two kinds of UKIP - the Godfrey Bloom guy who's like a cross between Sid James and Bernard Manning, and then there's a much more sinister element, like the MEP who said every Muslim has got to sign a declaration of non-violence, which to me is literally akin to the Nazis saying Jews should wear a yellow star."

Doesn't seem right not to have the tory view point, they are running scared, that's my opinion.

We should have a secret vote here at British Filipino to see how many of us want to remain in the EU.

Before that though, would leaving the EU help or hinder the Filipino visa process?

Anyway, Sid James and Bernard Manning were both decent chaps.

Why does mr Halfon talk them down.

Sid James and Bernard Manning were good for a larrf but they wouldn't make good politicians though.

Its not the EU issue that bothers me quite so much as the shutting down of immigration for 5 years regardless, from UKIP.

    From UKIP:

"3. UKIP would introduce a five year freeze on immigration for permanent settlement (with some exceptions) until we regain control of our borders, put in effective immigration controls, and deal with the issue of illegal immigrants. "

The exceptions UKIP refer to wouldnt be for Filipino wives or fiancees....

I think it is good that UKIP are around, we all know they wont gain power but at least they keep this and will keep any future governments on their toes as regards to immigration.

I don't think the idea of shutting ours doors for five years will work as there would be a huge public outcry, any problems originate from Euro immigration not people from the Philippines.

It will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Dont want to give em half a chance Timmers. And I say that as someone who's Mrs is almost "home and dry". If thats what they are saying in writing in the public domain, what are they thinking underneath? What else do they have up their sleeve? I fear for those who's wives or gfs have yet to apply, or for those who's wifes are on 5 years of FLR. I wouldnt want to give Farage and his clowns the chance to reverse existing Spouse Visas. Even Indefinite Leave to Remain is not definite. Not if you have people like Farage and UKIP about. If we think its tough now, what if UKIP pick up enough votes to form a balance of power in a coalition government? Never say never with this stuff.

I agree, their chances of gaining any power are slim. But they will if we let em. Its up to us to keep them out.
